Pericardial defects are rare in both people and dogs. They may be congenital or acquired in origin, and partial or total in extent. Commonly, pericardial defects are incidental findings at autopsy; however, diagnostic methods such as thoracic radiography and echocardiography can be useful in the ante mortem diagnosis of pericardial defects. This report describes the first case of a dog with syncope, supraventricular tachycardia, and a partial left pericardial defect with herniation of the left auricle for which extensive ante mortem diagnostic information was available. Partial absence of the pericardium should be considered in dogs with disproportionate enlargement of cardiac chambers for which other congenital and acquired heart diseases are ruled out.

This study systematically evaluated the toxic effects of fluconazole on the cardiovascular development of zebrafish. Zebrafish embryos were treated with different concentrations of fluconazole (200, 400, and 800 μg/ml) to observe its impact on heart development, reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation, apoptosis, and hemoglobin production. The results showed that as the concentration of fluconazole increased, significant changes in zebrafish heart structure were observed, along with a notable reduction in heart rate.

Left ventricular (LV) pseudoaneurysm, a rare occurrence, develops when a ruptured ventricle is encapsulated by the pericardium or scar tissue. Unlike free intrapericardial rupture, which often results in cardiac tamponade and fatal outcome, there are instances where the cardiac rupture remains contained, forming a pseudoaneurysm and averting immediate tamponade. We describe a 43-year-old male who underwent successful surgical repair of LV rupture following inferior wall myocardial infarction that resulted in the formation of a large pseudoaneurysm.

Abamectin is an insecticide, miticide and nematicide that has been extensively used in agriculture for many years. The excessive use of abamectin inevitably pollutes water and soil and might even cause adverse effects on aquatic biota. However, it is currently unclear how abamectin exposure causes neurotoxicity in aquatic organisms.

Background: Chest pain is a common reason patients are admitted to the hospital. The most clinically significant cases are those in which the pain is due to an immediate life-threatening condition, such as acute aortic dissection (AAD). A prompt and correct diagnosis is crucial to patient survival.

The compound m-Cresol, also referred to as 3-methylphenol,acts as a precursor in the creation of pesticides and plasticizers. This research has conducted a thorough evaluation of the toxic effects of m-cresol on the cardiac development of juvenile zebrafish, from 6 to 72 hpf. The study's results reveal that higher concentrations of m-Cresol, compared to lower ones, result in more severe heart abnormalities in zebrafish larvae.
