Intraperitoneal rupture of cystic ovarian teratoma is a rare complication. We report a case in a 29-year-old female, with increased abdominal circumference 2 months after vaginal delivery. MRI/CT raised this diagnosis associated to chemical peritonitis. A malignant ovarian mass with peritoneal carcinomatosis was excluded. Laparoscopic oophorectomy was performed and histologic analysis confirmed imaging findings. This case demonstrates the interest of imaging before surgery in pelvic masses to avoid misdiagnosing and to provide adequate treatment.

This case report describes a rare instance of intraperitoneal rupture in a redegenerated uterine fibroid during pregnancy. A 38-year-old woman at 38 weeks gestation, with a history of a single pregnancy, presented with mild pelvic pain persisting through late pregnancy. An emergency caesarean section was performed due to acute fetal distress during labor.

Blunt abdominal trauma causing intraperitoneal injury and/or bleeding can be life-threatening, requiring immediate intervention. Diagnosing these cases can be challenging, especially when pre-existing conditions are involved. Low-grade appendiceal mucinous neoplasm (LAMN) is a rare tumor of the appendix that can lead to pseudomyxoma peritonei.

Background: Muscle atrophy after the rupture of a rotator cuff (RC) tendon is a major factor that increases the risk of secondary complications and re-rupture. Metformin, a type 2 diabetes treatment, can be used to modulate intracellular signaling pathways that promote muscle growth. This study aimed to verify whether systemic metformin administration could prevent supraspinatus (SS) atrophy after RC rupture in a rat model.

Department of Emergency Medicine, Affiliated Changsha Hospital of Xiangya School of Medicine, Central South University (Changsha First Hospital), Changsha 410005, China.

Objectives: To investigate the inhibitory effect of GSK484, a PAD4 inhibitor, on H3Cit expression following sepsis and its effects for improving sepsis-induced endothelial dysfunction.

Methods: Eighteen C57BL/6 mice were randomized into sham-operated group, sepsis model group and GSK484 treatment group (6), and in the latter two groups, models of sepsis were established by cecal ligation and puncture (CLP). The mice in GSK484 treatment group were given an intraperitoneal injection of GSK484 (4 mg/kg) on the second day following the surgery.

The occurrence of spontaneous bladder rupture during labor or the postpartum period after an uncomplicated vaginal delivery is exceedingly uncommon. However, we encountered a case involving spontaneous bladder rupture, which resulted in the development of localized fluid collections in the abdomen after an uncomplicated vaginal delivery. In this instance, the absence of typical peritonitis symptoms, such as abdominal pain or tenderness, and the lack of typical urological symptoms, including haematuria, dysuria, and anuria, coupled with the absence of clinical manifestations of puerperal sepsis, the absence of microbial presence in the ascitic fluid, and the patient's symptomatic amelioration following antibiotic therapy, contributed to a delay in identifying the bladder rupture.
