Background: Environmental pollution exposes humans to toxic substances. Herein we present 5 family members aged20-54 years that were poisoned by liquid mercury.
Case Reports: Case 1 presented to our clinic with cough, fever, and night sweats. The patient had neutropenia, anemia, and pneumonia, rapidly developed acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), and died on day 4 of hospitalization. Her WBC count was 0.4 × 10³ mm-3 (normal range: 4.3-10.3 × 103 mm-3) and Hb was 10.8 g dL-1 (normal range: 11.5-16.0 g dL-1). Case 2 presented with bicytopenia; the leukocyte count was 1.3 × 103 mm-3 (normal range: 4.3-10.3 × 103mm-3) and the PLT count was 88 × 103 mm-3 (normal range: 150-400 × 103 mm-3). Cases 2 and 3 had toxic peripheralneuropathy. The PLT count in case 3 was 123 × 103 mm-3 (normal range: 150-400 × 103 mm-3). Cases 4 and 5 presentedwith fatigue and headache; these 2 patients did not have positive findings, apart from high levels of mercury in theblood. We have written informed consent.
Conclusion: We think that heavy metal exposure-although rare-should be considered in patients that present withnumerous symptoms involving multiple systems, including the cardiovascular, respiratory, and neurological systems. The present report is unique in that in describes mercury poisoning in 5 members of the same family.

Introduction: In low-and-middle-income-countries (LMIC), viral suppression is defined as plasma viral load (PVL) below 1000 copies/mL (low-level viremia [LLV]) and threshold for HIV drug resistance (HIVDR) testing. However, there is evidence that drug resistance mutations (DRMs) may emerge at LLV, thus compromising antiretroviral treatment (ART) response We evaluated sequencing success rates (SSR) at LLV, described HIVDR profiles and adequacy with potential efficacy of tenofovir-lamivudine-dolutegravir (TLD).
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among individuals with LLV at the Chantal BIYA International Reference Centre, Yaoundé, Cameroon from January 2020 through August 2021.

Purpose: To evaluate the natural history of dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD) through advanced retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) analysis and sub-RPE illumination (SRI) data and to elucidate their correlation with disease progression.
Methods: A total of 82 patients with dry AMD were included in this longitudinal study. Spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) was utilized to evaluate central macular thickness (CMT), central retinal thickness (CRT), foveal outer nuclear layer (ONL) thickness, and ellipsoid zone (EZ) integrity.

With the rapid development of the aerospace, automobile, and ocean industries, there is an urgent need for the fabrication of high-performance polymer matrix composites with low friction and wear in wide temperature ranges. In this paper, polytetrafluoroethylenes (PTFEs) doped with polyether-ether-ketone (PEEK), carbon fiber (CF), and TiC were prepared, and the effects of testing temperatures from room temperature to 250 °C in air conditions were investigated. The results showed that the friction coefficient of the PTFE matrix composites had no obviously changing trend, while the wear resistance properties were significantly improved.

Aim: Physician visual assessment (PVA) in invasive coronary angiography (ICA) is clinically used to determine stenosis severity and guide coronary intervention. However, PVA provides limited information regarding the haemodynamic significance of stenosis. This prospective study aimed to develop a model combining visual diameter stenosis (DS) and quantitative coronary angiography (QCA)-derived parameters to diagnose ischaemic lesions using invasive fractional flow reserve (FFR) with pharmacologically induced maximal hyperaemia as the gold standard.

Long-term and fine-grained maritime localization and sensing is challenging due to sporadic connectivity, constrained power budget, limited footprint, and hostile environment. In this paper, we present the design considerations and implementation of , a rugged ultra-low-footprint undersea sensor tag with on-device AI-driven localization, online communication, and energy-harvesting capabilities. uses on-chip (< 30 kB) neural networks to track underwater objects within 3 meters with ~6 minutes of GPS outage from 9DoF inertial sensor readings.
