In oral cavity local immunity is decreased in parodontitis, that is related with immunoglobulin A deficiency and lysozyme activity decrease. Against this background, microbial factors damaging effect on periodont is intensified. In parodontitis the free nitric oxide (NO) content decrease in gingival tissues and its appearance in saliva is related with transformation of NO into toxic peroxinitrite, that on its turn enhances oxidation, parodontal injury, cell degra dation and necrosis. Nitrooxide defficiency in gingival mucosal cells is characterized by decreased protein P-53 expression and terminal differentiation disorder of the cells. Mitochodria related energogenesis disorder in gums causes inhibition of their cell regeneration, which together with apoptotic changes is characterized with parodontal tissue destruction and depletion.

The study covered actual nutrition in able-bodied individuals having a diagnosed chronic generalized parodontitis. Findings are severe disorders in nutritional staus: severe element disbalance, vitamin insufficiency, fatty acids imbalance in nutrition, lower content of dietary fibers. The nutritional disorders in the examinees prove deep pathogenetic connection of parodontal diseases and internal disorders, associated with nutritional imbalance as well.

Chronic periodontit inflammation in old-aged patients was found to be accompanied by imbalance of complement system; sIgA, IgA, IgG and IgM hyperproduction; increased concentrations of IL-8, IL-1alpha and decreased level of IL-4; abrogated NO and its derivatives concentration; increased anti-HSP-70 and homocystein levels in blood and saliva. The obtained results justify the necessity to use in therapy of chronic parodontit inflammation the immunocorrection, antioxidant and bioregulatory therapy, which normalize the cells function.
