Background: The majority of renal injury secondary to blunt abdominal trauma can be successfully treated conservatively. In the present study, the clinical features and outcomes of children who presented with renal injury secondary to blunt abdominal trauma were evaluated.
Methods: This study was carried out retrospectively using data from children at the Department of Pediatric Surgery who were hospitalized for renal injury due to blunt abdominal trauma between 2000 and 2012. Patient characteristics, clinical presentation, management strategy, and outcome were evaluated.
Results: Forty-one patients were hospitalized. The mean age of the patients was 10±4.85 years. The majority of renal injuries were grade 1 and 2. Falling was the cause of most renal injuries. All patients were initially treated conservatively. Three patients underwent acute surgical exploration for life-threatening renal bleeding (grade 4-5 injury). Nephrectomy was performed in 3 patients due to injury to the pedicle.
Conclusion: The conservative treatment of pediatric renal parenchymal injuries is safe and effective in children. Although the vast majority of renal injuries do not require surgical intervention, life-threatening renal bleeding, regardless of the grade of injury, should be treated surgically.

Background: High-temperature environment can cause acute kidney injury affecting renal filtration function. To study the mechanism of renal injury caused by heat stress through activates TLR4/NF-κB/NLRP3 signaling pathway by disrupting the filtration barrier in broiler chickens. The temperature of broilers in the TN group was maintained at 23 ± 1 °C, and the HS group temperature was maintained at 35 ± 1℃ from the age of 21 days, and the high temperature was 10 h per day, and one broiler from each replicate group at the age of 35 and 42 days was selected for blood sampling, respectively.

Rationale & Objective: Monoallelic predicted Loss-of-Function (pLoF) variants in IFT140 have recently been associated with an autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD)-like phenotype. This study sought to enhance the characterization of this phenotype.
Study Design: Case series.
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a common clinical condition with significant health risks for patients and is widely recognised as a major public health concern. Laboratory medicine plays a crucial role in both diagnosing and managing CKD, as diagnosis and staging rely on estimated glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and evaluating albuminuria (or proteinuria). It was evident that the laboratory assessment of CKD in Malaysia is not standardised.

Sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT-2) inhibitors are the only medications that improve clinical outcomes regardless of baseline left ventricular ejection fraction. Despite the recognized effectiveness of SGLT-2 inhibitors, there remains a paucity of research on the discontinuation of these medications. The objective of this study is to analyze the rate of discontinuation of SGLT-2 inhibitors, to evaluate the impact of discontinuation on the clinical outcome, and to identify the factors associated with discontinuation.

Arterial hypertension in young adults, which includes patients between 19 and 40 years of age, has been increasing in recent years and is associated with a significantly higher risk of target organ damage and short-term mortality. It has been reported that up to 10% of these cases are due to a potentially reversible secondary cause, mainly of endocrine (primary aldosteronism, Cushing's syndrome, and pheochromocytoma/paraganglioma), renal (renovascular hypertension due to fibromuscular dysplasia and renal parenchymal disease), or cardiac (coarctation of the aorta) origin. It is recommended to rule out a secondary cause of high blood pressure (BP) in those patients with early onset of grade 2 or 3 hypertension, acute worsening of previously controlled hypertension, resistant hypertension, hypertensive emergency, severe target organ damage disproportionate to the grade of hypertension, or in the face of clinical or biochemical characteristics suggestive of a secondary cause of hypertension.
