Background: Associations of metabolic syndrome (MetS) with lifestyle behaviors in youth is potentially important for identifying subgroups at risk and encourage interventions. This study evaluates the associations among the clustering of metabolic risk factors and moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) in youth.

Methods: The sample comprised 522 girls and 402 boys (N = 924) aged 11 to 17 years. Height, weight, waist circumference (WC), fasting glucose, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, triglycerides, and blood pressures were measured. Cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) was assessed using the 20-m shuttle run test. MVPA was estimated with a 3-day diary. Outcome variables were statistically normalized and expressed as z scores. A clustered metabolic risk score was computed as the mean of z scores. Multiple linear regression was used to test associations between metabolic risk and MVPA by sex, adjusted for age, WC, and CRF.

Results: After adjustment for potential confounders, MVPA was inversely associated with the clustering of metabolic risk factors in girls, but not in boys; in addition, after adjusting for WC, the statistical model of that relationship was substantially improved in girls.

Conclusion: MVPA was independently associated with increased risk of MetS in girls. Additional efforts are needed to encourage research with different analytical approach and standardization of criteria for MetS in youth.

Objective: To investigate the differences of clinical characteristics and treatment outcomes between paraneoplastic neurologic syndrome (PNS) patients with one high-risk antibody and patients with two high-risk antibodies.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the data of 51 PNS patients with high-risk antibody. Clinical data were extracted from the patients' electronic medical records.

Department of Critical Care Medicine, West China Hospital, Sichuan University, Chengdu, Sichuan, China.

Background: Leukocytes play an important role in inflammatory response after a traumatic brain injury (TBI). We designed this study to identify TBI phenotypes by clustering blood levels of various leukocytes.

Methods: TBI patients from the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care-III (MIMIC-III) database were included.

Background: Macrophages play a dual role in the tumor microenvironment(TME), capable of secreting pro-inflammatory factors to combat tumors while also promoting tumor growth through angiogenesis and immune suppression. This study aims to explore the characteristics of macrophages in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) and establish a prognostic model based on macrophage-related genes.

Method: We performed scRNA-seq analysis to investigate macrophage heterogeneity and their potential pseudotime evolutionary processes.

Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most prevalent causes of cancer-related morbidity and mortality worldwide. Late-stage detection and the complex molecular mechanisms driving tumor progression contribute significantly to its poor prognosis. Dysregulated R-loops, three-stranded nucleic acid structures associated with genome instability, play a key role in the malignant characteristics of various tumors.

Background: Colon adenocarcinoma (COAD) is a malignancy with a high mortality rate and complex biological characteristics and heterogeneity, which poses challenges for clinical treatment. Anoikis is a type of programmed cell death that occurs when cells lose their attachment to the extracellular matrix (ECM), and it plays a crucial role in tumor metastasis. However, the specific biological link between anoikis and COAD, as well as its mechanisms in tumor progression, remains unclear, making it a potential new direction for therapeutic strategy research.
