We focused on the participation of GAP1, BAP2, and AGP1 in L-phenylalanine transport in yeast. In order to study the physiological functions of GAP1, BAP2, and AGP1 in L-phenylalanine transport, we examined the kinetics, substrate specificity, and regulation of these systems, employing isogenic haploid strains with the respective genes disrupted individually and in combination. During the characterization of phenylalanine transport, we noted important regulatory phenomena associated with these systems. Our results show that Agp1p is the major transporter of the phenylalanine in a gap1 strain growing in synthetic media with leucine present as an inducer. In a wild type strain grown in the presence of leucine, when ammonium ion was the nitrogen source, Bap2p is the principal phenylalanine carrier.

Background And Purpose: We investigated the relationship between serotonergic and dopaminergic specific binding transporter ratios (SBRs) over 4 years in Parkinson's disease (PD) patients. We assessed serotonergic innervation's potential compensatory role for dopaminergic denervation, association with PD symptoms, and involvement in the development of levodopa-induced dyskinesia (LID).
Methods: SBRs of the midbrain and striatum were evaluated from [I-123] N-ω-fluoropropyl-2β-carbomethoxy-3β-(4-iodophenyl)nortropane SPECT images at baseline and after 4 years.

In this work, a series of boronated amidines based on the -dodecaborate anion and amino acids containing an amino group in the side chain of the general formula [BHNHC(NH(CH)CH(NH)COOH)CH], where n = 2, 3, 4, were synthesized. These derivatives contain conserved α-amino and α-carboxyl groups recognized by the binding centers of the large neutral amino acid transporter (LAT) system, which serves as a target for the clinically applied BNCT agent para-boronophenylalanine (BPA). The paper describes several approaches to synthesizing the target compounds, their acute toxicity studies, and tumor uptake studies in vivo in two tumor models.

is a common bacterial pathogen in aquaculture, often leading to visceral white spot disease in large yellow croakers (). Previous studies have found that certain aptamers show an efficient antibacterial effect against this pathogen. In this study, we analyzed the transcriptome of to get insights into the antibacterial and inhibitions mechanisms following exposure to the aptamer B4.

Blueberry plants are among the most important fruit-bearing shrubs, but they have shallow, hairless roots that are not conducive to water and nutrient uptake, especially under drought conditions. Therefore, the mechanism underlying blueberry root drought tolerance should be clarified. Hence, we established a yeast expression library comprising blueberry genes associated with root responses to drought stress.

To gain a deeper understanding of the mechanisms by which cushioning packaging preserves the quality of Chinese olive fruits during cold chain transportation and extends their shelf life, this study simulated cold chain conditions and investigated the effects of cushioning packaging on the physiology, antioxidant capacity, and secondary metabolites of fruits during a 20-day shelf life. The results indicated that the decay rate in cushioning-packaging-treated fruit was 75% lower than that in the unbuffered packaging fruit at day 20 of shelf life. Simultaneously, cushioning packaging treatment mitigated the damage severity of the cell membrane structure and kept the cell membrane permeability at a low level, which was 15.
