The authors have developed a method for measuring the blood loss with feces using an available and inexpensive reagent--methyl-4-aminophenol sulphate (Metol). The diagnostic value of the method in ulcerative and hemorrhagic lesions of the alimentary tract is demonstrated, as well as its advantages over other techniques. The method helps choose a differentiated course of treatment with due regard for the hemorrhage severity.

Introduction: Coagulopathy following traumatic injury impairs stable blood clot formation and exacerbates mortality from hemorrhage. Understanding how these alterations impact blood clot stability is critical to improving resuscitation. Furthermore, the incorporation of machine learning algorithms to assess clinical markers, coagulation assays and biochemical assays allows us to define the contributions of these factors to mortality.

Objective: This study aimed to develop and validate a nomogram to predict the risk of sepsis in non-traumatic subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) patients using data from the MIMIC-IV database.
Methods: A total of 803 SAH patients meeting the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into a training set (563 cases) and a validation set (240 cases). Independent prognostic factors were identified through forward stepwise logistic regression, and a nomogram was created based on these factors.

Managing uncontrolled and noncompressible bleeding presents a major challenge in emergency trauma care. Methods to halt bleeding quickly and efficiently, without applying direct pressure on the wound, have become a key focus of research. Herein, a novel fructose-modified chitosan/gelatin composite sponge has been developed, exhibiting high elasticity, low rebound pressure, and excellent cell compatibility.

Early brain injury (EBI) after subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is a clear correlation with poor prognosis. In the past 20 years, the research on EBI has increased rapidly. However, there is a lack of bibliometric analysis related to EBI.

Background: Given the increasing prevalence of antiplatelet agent use and the lack of high-quality evidence, the CAPTAIN trial aimed to investigate the safety and provide recommendations on continuing acetylsalicylic acid perioperatively in patients undergoing elective laparoscopic totally extraperitoneal inguinal hernia repair (LIHR).
Methods: The CAPTAIN trial was a multicentre, surgeon blind, randomized controlled trial conducted from April 2016 to April 2023. Patients undergoing LIHR were eligible for inclusion.
