This experimental study tested the effects of overhead transparency design in conjunction with live lecture on retention, recall, and application of data analysis content over three occasions using a Solomon Four-Group, pretest-posttest design. Pretested subjects showed significant (p less than .001) gains in test scores from pre to posttest. No significant differences were found in pretest scores between control and experimental treatment groups or among the posttest scores of either the experimental or control groups.

Purpose: This study aimed to assess the levels and sources of noise in the emergency intensive care unit (EICU) of an emergency department and investigate their effects on the sleep quality of conscious patients.
Methods: A study was conducted on patients admitted to the EICU from December 2020 to December 2023. They were categorised according to their sleep quality with the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index.

Introduction: Segmentation tasks in computer vision play a crucial role in various applications, ranging from object detection to medical imaging and cultural heritage preservation. Traditional approaches, including convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and standard transformer-based models, have achieved significant success; however, they often face challenges in capturing fine-grained details and maintaining efficiency across diverse datasets. These methods struggle with balancing precision and computational efficiency, especially when dealing with complex patterns and high-resolution images.

To address the significantly elevated safety risks associated with construction workers' improper use of helmets and reflective clothing, we propose an enhanced YOLOv8 model tailored for safety wear detection. Firstly, this study introduces the P2 detection layer within the YOLOv8 architecture, which substantially enriches semantic feature representation. Additionally, a lightweight Ghost module is integrated to replace the original backbone of YOLOv8, thereby reducing the parameter count and computational burden.

Conserving energy of sensor nodes and ensuring balanced workloads among them are fundamental concerns in Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) design. Clustering strategies offer a promising avenue to minimize node energy consumption, thereby prolonging network lifespan. Nevertheless, numerous multi-hop routing protocols using clustering technique face the challenge of nodes nearer to the Base Station (BS) depleting their energy faster due to forwarding data from the entire network leading to premature node failure and network partitioning known as 'hotspot problem'.

Ice accretion caused by freezing rain or snowstorms is a common phenomenon in cold climates that seriously threatens the safety and reliability of telecommunication lines and other overhead networks. Various anti-icing strategies have been demonstrated through surface engineering to delay ice formation. However, existing anti-icing surfaces still encounter several challenges; for example, surfaces are prone to ice-pinning formation due to the impact of supercooled droplets, which leads to a loss of anti-icing effectiveness.
