Realizing biomimicry for human tactile perception is a meaningful challenge. In this work, a soft matter system with multi-scale energy dissipation structure is designed to realize flexible sensing and detection by biomimetic human touch. At the molecular scale, the supramolecular interactions are introduced into the hydrogel system, including the hydrophobic interaction and the ion attraction between macromolecular segments.

The significant modulus difference between a metal coating and a polymer substrate leads to interface mismatches, seriously affecting the stability of flexible devices. Therefore, enhancing the adhesion stability of a metal layer on an inert polymer substrate to prevent delamination becomes a key challenge. Herein, an ultrathin protein nanofilm (UPN), synthesized by disulfide-bond-reducing protein aggregation, is proposed as a strong adhesive layer to enhance adhesion between polymer substrate and metal coating.

How to fundamentally suppress charge transport is one of the essential issues in polymer dielectrics. This work reports significant charge transport suppression by glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) side group modification on polypropylene (PP). Experimental and computational investigations discover for the first time a quasi-hydrogen bond effect generated by carbonyl and epoxide of GMA in PP inter/intramolecular structure, while introducing trap energy levels within the HOMO-LUMO gap.

Orienting intelligence and multifunction, stretchable semiconductors are of great significance in constructing next-generation human-friendly wearable electronic devices. Nevertheless, rendering semiconducting polymers mechanical stretchability without compromising intrinsic electrical performance remains a major challenge. Combining geometry-innovated inorganic systems and structure-tailored organic semiconductors, a molecular-scale geometric design strategy is proposed to obtain high-performance intrinsically stretchable polymer semiconductors.

Redox-active lignin rich in phenolic hydroxyl groups is an ingenious charge storage material. However, its insulating nature limits the storage/release of electrons and requires the construction of electron transfer channels within it. Herein, nanoparticles (PANI/DKL-NPs) are prepared by co-assembly via π-π interactions between conducting polyaniline (PANI) and demethylated Kraft lignin (DKL) molecules for the first time, and rapid electron transfer inside DKL is achieved.
