The field of view and gain of optical concentrators used within free space optical communications systems are constrained by conservation of etendue. In this Letter, consideration of the processes in a fluorescent concentrator leads to a simple design strategy for these concentrators for this application. Significantly, because fluorescent concentrators do not conserve etendue, this can lead to concentrators with wider fields of view and higher gains. A model of a fluorescent concentrator containing a quantum dot material suggests that it could have a gain 50 times higher than an etendue conserving concentrator with the same field of view.

Lithium-ion batteries represent a significant component of the field of energy storage, with a diverse range of applications in consumer electronics, portable devices, and numerous other fields. In view of the growing concerns about the safety of batteries, it is of the utmost importance to develop a sensor that is capable of accurately monitoring the internal temperature of lithium-ion batteries. External sensors are subject to the necessity for additional space and ancillary equipment.

Building type information is widely used in various fields, such as disaster management, urbanization studies, and population modelling. Few studies have been conducted on fine-grained building classification in rural areas using China's Gaofen-7 (GF-7) high-resolution stereo mapping satellite data. In this study, we employed a two-stage method combining supervised classification and unsupervised clustering to classify buildings in the rural area of Pingquan, northern China, based on building footprints, building heights, and multispectral information extracted from GF-7 data.

This review offers a comprehensive and in-depth analysis of face mask detection and recognition technologies, emphasizing their critical role in both public health and technological advancements. Existing detection methods are systematically categorized into three primary classes: feaRture-extraction-and-classification-based approaches, object-detection-models-based methods and multi-sensor-fusion-based methods. Through a detailed comparison, their respective workflows, strengths, limitations, and applicability across different contexts are examined.

Oxidative stress (OS), generated by the overrun of reactive species of oxygen and nitrogen (RONS), is the key cause of several human diseases. With inflammation, OS is responsible for the onset and development of clinical signs and the pathological hallmarks of Alzheimer's disease (AD). AD is a multifactorial chronic neurodegenerative syndrome indicated by a form of progressive dementia associated with aging.

Trench MOS Barrier Schottky (TMBS) rectifiers offer superior static and dynamic electrical characteristics when compared with planar Schottky rectifiers for a given active die size. The unique structure of TMBS devices allows for efficient manipulation of the electric field, enabling higher doping concentrations in the drift region and thus achieving a lower forward voltage drop (VF) and reduced leakage current (IR) while maintaining high breakdown voltage (BV). While the use of trenches to push electric fields away from the mesa surface is a widely employed concept for vertical power devices, a significant gap exists in the analytical modeling of this effect, with most prior studies relying heavily on computationally intensive numerical simulations.
