The aim of the present work was to evaluate whether concentrations of the carboxy-terminal cross-linked fragment of type II collagen (CTX-II), the activities of matrix metalloproteinase-2 and -9 (MMP-2/-9) and Myeloperoxidase (MPO) in canine synovial fluids (SF) can reflect structural alterations of articular cartilage in dogs with fragmented medial coronoid process (FMCP). Elbow joints with FMCP underwent radiographic and arthroscopic examination. Commercially available assays were used to analyze SF for CTX-II concentration and MMP-2/-9 activity. MPO activity was measured by o-dianisidine-assay. The MMPs were further evaluated by zymography. CTX-II concentration and MMP-2 activity showed age-dependent trends in controls. Increased enzyme activities of MPO and MMP-2/-9 were found in diseased dogs. MMP-9activity seems suitable to underline the subjective assessment of the degree of cartilage damage. These initial data of the study suggest that MPO and MMP-2/9 may be used as objective biomarkers in the diagnosis of canine osteoarthritis due to FMCP.

Supracondylar humerus fractures are the most common type of elbow fracture in children, with a variety of complications such as cubitus varus deformity. The most important goal of the initial treatment is to avoid complicated deformities. In the present study, we investigated cubitus varus deformity and discussed the ideal initial treatment for supracondylar humerus fractures.

Osteochondritis dissecans is a rare condition characterized by the deterioration of a small area of bone and cartilage without infection. Its exact cause is unclear, though factors such as abnormal bone development, joint pressure, repetitive injuries, inadequate blood supply, and genetic links have been observed. In this case, a 27-year-old woman experienced chronic right knee pain following a twisting injury, which led to reduced mobility and mild pain.

Introduction: Lipomas are benign tumors primarily composed of adipose tissue, typically found in subcutaneous or intramuscular sites across the body. While lipomas in the hand are uncommon, their occurrence in both thenar and hypothenar eminences is exceedingly rare.
Case Presentation: In this case, 65-year-old female admitted to hospital with a ten-year history of progressive swelling in the palmar aspect of her right hand, resulting in limited finger movement.
The standard treatment for displaced pediatric supracondylar fracture of humer us (PSCFH) is closed reduction and percutaneous pinning under image intensifier guidance. This technical note describes Kapandji intrafocal pinning technique (KIPT) for achieving optimal fracture reduction and stable fixation in Gartland Type III or IV extension type PSCFH. In KIPT, a K wire was introduced into the fracture site from the posterior aspect, fracture manipulation was done by levering with wire reducing the posterior displacement of the distal fragment and the wire was fixed to the anterior cortex of the proximal fragment.

Background: Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) biomarkers of synaptic dysfunction, neuroinflammation, and glial response, complementing Alzheimer's disease (AD) core biomarkers, have improved the pathophysiological characterization of the disease. Here, we tested the hypothesis that the co-expression of multiple CSF biomarkers will help the identification of AD-like phenotypes when biomarker positivity thresholds are not met yet.
Methods: Two hundred and seventy cognitively unimpaired adults with family history (FH) of sporadic AD (mean age = 60.
