Alzheimers Dement
December 2024
Columbia University, New York, NY, USA.
Background: Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have identified genetic loci that robustly associate with Alzheimer's Disease (AD), many of which are preferentially or exclusively expressed in innate immune cells. Among the identified AD risk genes is CD33: a transmembrane, sialic acid-binding protein expressed on the surface of myeloid cells including microglia, the innate immune cells of the CNS. The function of microglia is highly responsive to and regulated by metabolic changes, which allows them to rapidly change phenotype and maintain brain health.

Background: Sporadic Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (sCJD) is one of common causes of rapidly progressive dementia worldwide. However, because of the variety of its clinical presentations that mimic other cognitive disorders, the certain diagnosis in public hospitals is still limited. Therefore, this study provides more information about disease manifestations and clinical courses of probable sCJD cases in Thailand.

As combination therapy becomes more common in clinical applications, predicting adverse effects of combination medications is a challenging task. However, there are three limitations of the existing prediction models. First, they rely on a single view of the drug and cannot fully utilize multiview information, resulting in limited performance when capturing complex structures.

Background: Structural variation (SV), defined as balanced and unbalanced chromosomal rearrangements >1 kb, is a major contributor to germline and neoplastic disease. Large variants have historically been evaluated by chromosome analysis and now are commonly recognized by chromosomal microarray analysis (CMA). The increasing application of genome sequencing (GS) in the clinic and the relatively high incidence of chromosomal abnormalities in sick newborns and children highlights the need for accurate SV interpretation and reporting.

The field of perovskite optoelectronics and electronics has rapidly advanced, driven by excellent material properties and a diverse range of fabrication methods available. Among them, triple-cation perovskites such as CsFAMAPbI offer enhanced stability and superior performance, making them ideal candidates for advanced applications. However, the multicomponent nature of these perovskites introduces complexity, particularly in how their structural, optical, and electrical properties are influenced by thermal annealing─a critical step for achieving high-quality thin films.
