Background: Safe and effective pediatric blood pumps continue to lag far behind those developed for adults. To address this growing unmet clinical need, we are developing a hybrid, continuous-flow, magnetically levitated, pediatric total artificial heart (TAH). Our hybrid TAH design, the Dragon Heart (DH), integrates both an axial flow and centrifugal flow blood pump within a single, compact housing.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) constitutes 90% of liver cancer cases and ranks as the third leading cause of cancer-related mortality, necessitating urgent development of alternative therapies. Lactoferrin (LF), a natural iron-binding glycoprotein with reported anticancer effects, is investigated for its potential in liver cancer treatment, an area with limited existing studies. This study focuses on evaluating LF's anti-liver cancer effects on HCC cells and assessing the preventive efficacy of oral LF administration in a murine model.

Purpose: This study aims to develop a diffusion-based workflow to precisely predict postoperative appearance in blepharoptosis patients.
Methods: We developed PtosisDiffusion, a training-free workflow that combines face mesh with ControlNet for accurate post-operative predictions, and evaluated it using 39 preoperative photos from blepharoptosis patients. The performance of PtosisDiffusion was compared against three other diffusion-based methods: Conditional Diffusion, Repaint, and Dragon Diffusion.
