We studied the number of mollusks collected according to a specific protocol: 2 samplers prospecting in opposite directions for 1 min 30 s at 10 collection points regularly distributed on the site, for a total of 2 times 15 minutes. Because of the good reproducibility of the results of these collections, this method can be used for quantitative studies. A sampling effect was noted.

Although the concept of bioaccumulation for novel brominated flame retardants (NBFRs) is clear, the process and interfering factors of bioaccumulation are still not fully understood. The present study comprehensively evaluated the occurrence, transfer and interfering factors of NBFRs in a marine food web to provide new thought and perspective for the bioaccumulation of these compounds. The occurrence of 17 NBFRs were determined from 8 water, 8 sediment and 303 organism samples collected from Dalian Bay, China.

Several methods can be used to mitigate coastal erosion, and one of the leading solutions is known as beach nourishment (BN), which involves using dredged material for nourishment, adding sand to extend an eroding beach. Although it has many advantages, the environmental impacts of BN remain poorly understood, especially on plastic pollution, which had not been investigated until this study. We aimed to compare the abundance and distribution of microplastics (MPs) found in intertidal sediments and specimens of the bivalve mollusks Crassostrea brasiliana, Mytella strigata, Perna perna, and Tivela mactroides, collected in two beaches of Vitoria, Southeast of Brazil (da Costa et al.

Solenogastres is a group of mollusks with evolutionary and ecological importance. Nevertheless, their diversity is underestimated and knowledge about the distribution of the approximately 300 formally described species is limited. Factors that contribute to this include their small size and frequent misidentification by non-specialists.

Mollusca is the second most species-rich animal phylum, but the pathways of early molluscan evolution have long been controversial. Modern faunas retain only a fraction of the past forms in this hyperdiverse and long-lived group. Recent analyses have consistently recovered a fundamental split into two sister clades, Conchifera (including gastropods, bivalves and cephalopods) and Aculifera, comprising Polyplacophora ('chitons') and Aplacophora.

The knowledge of comparative and developmental immunobiology has grown over the years and has been strengthened by the contributions of multi-omics research. High-performance microscopy, flow cytometry, scRNA sequencing, and the increased capacity to handle complex data introduced by machine learning have allowed the uncovering of aspects of great complexity and diversity in invertebrate immunocytes, i.e.
