Ca(CF3CO2)2 efficiently catalyzed the selective ring-opening of epoxides by amines leading to the synthesis of β-aminoalcohols. The reaction works well with various aromatic and aliphatic amines under solvent-free conditions. Corresponding β-aminoalcohols were obtained in excellent yields with high regioselectivity. The catalyst was easily prepared by reaction of CaH2 in trifluoroacetic acid.

Article Synopsis
  • Solid-state metallic potassium batteries (SSMPBs) are gaining attention as alternatives to lithium batteries, but face challenges like low ionic conductivity and high interfacial resistance.
  • Researchers achieved improved performance by using in situ ring-opening polymerization with a plasticizer and catalyst, resulting in short-chain polyether electrolytes that significantly enhance ionic conductivity.
  • The developed SSMPBs show a high discharge capacity of 69 mAh/g at 100 mA/g and 88.8% capacity retention after 100 cycles, outperforming previous SSMPB studies.

Grafting carbon-based nanomaterials (CNMs) with polyglycerol (PG) improves their application potentials in biomedicine and electronics. Although "grafting from" method offers advantages over "grafting to" one in terms of operability and versatility, little is known about the reaction process of glycidol with the surface groups onto CNMs. By using graphene oxide (GO) as a multi-functional model material, we examined the reactivity of the surface groups on GO toward glycidol molecules via a set of model reactions.

Among the various studies on CO utilization, the sustainable and cost-effective fixation of CO into cyclic carbonates remains one of the most intriguing subjects. To this end, a novel type of composite dicationic ionic liquid material, DIL@PDIL, was developed. This composite consists of a dicationic ionic liquid (DIL), DMAP[TMGH]Br, supported on a polymeric dicationic ionic liquid (PDIL), P-DVB/Im[TMGH]Br.

This paper describes a ferric nitrene/photoredox dual-catalyzed anti-Markovnikov ring-opening of epoxides under neutral conditions for providing α-substituted acetophenones. A DFT-based calculation supported the reaction regioselectivity. The catalytic system could also be applied to the formation of C-O and C-N bonds nucleophilic functionalization of benzylic C-H bonds.
