This paper presents a comparison of length measurements between the wavelength and the adjacent pulse repetition interval length (APRIL) provided by a femtosecond optical frequency comb. A theoretical estimation of the frequency stability for stabilizing the wavelength and APRIL, the frequency parameters that affect the stability of the APRIL in air, and the ambiguity in the length measurement by the APRIL are investigated. We find that the APRIL can be used as a low-cost measurement for the absolute length over a range of hundreds of meters in laboratory conditions.

Background: Proximal femoral varus osteotomy (PFVO) is commonly performed to improve femoral head containment and decrease deformity in Legg-Calve-Perthes disease (LCPD). Little is known about how PFVO impacts the quality of life after surgery. The purpose of this study was to determine the longitudinal changes to patient-reported physical, mental, and social health measures after PFVO.

Background: C-reactive protein (CRP) is one of the most commonly monitored inflammatory markers in patients with COVID-19 to gain insight into the inflammation level in the body and to adopt effective disease management and therapeutic strategies. COVID-19 is now less prevalent, and the study of CRP as a biomarker of inflammation still needs deeper understanding, particularly in understanding its role among patients with comorbidities, which are known to influence inflammatory responses and increase the risk of severe outcomes during acute and chronic infectious diseases. The objective of this study was to evaluate the association of major comorbidities such as ischemic heart diseases, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, hypertension, and lung infections e.

Molecular arrangement in the chiral smectic phases of the glassforming (S)-4'-(1-methylheptylcarbonyl)biphenyl-4-yl 4-[7-(2,2,3,3,4,4,4-heptafluorobutoxy) heptyl-1-oxy]benzoate is investigated by X-ray diffraction. An increased correlation length of the positional short-range order in the supercooled state agrees with the previous assumption of the hexatic smectic phase. However, the registered X-ray diffraction patterns are not typical for the hexatic phases.

Refining computer-assisted SEEG planning with spatial priors - A novel comparison of implantation strategies across adult and paediatric centres.

Neurophysiol Clin

Developmental Neurosciences, UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health, London, WC1N 1EH, UK; Department of Neurosurgery, Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, London, WC1N 3JH, UK.

Objectives: Computer-assisted planning (CAP) allows faster SEEG planning and improves grey matter sampling, orthogonal drilling angles to the skull, reduces risk scores and minimises intracerebral electrode length. Incorporating prior SEEG trajectories enhances CAP planning, refining output with centre-specific practices. This study significantly expands on the previous work, compares priors libraries between two centres, and describes differences between SEEG in adults and children in these centres.

Objective: To compare operative and oncological outcomes, as well as the risk of postoperative complications in patients who underwent transperitoneal robot-assisted partial nephrectomy (RAPN) for renal tumours located either posteriorly or anterolaterally.

Methods: Retrospective, consecutive study including 451 patients who underwent transperitoneal RAPN for non-metastatic, localised renal tumours from May 2016 to April 2023. Operative data included duration of the procedure, warm ischaemia time, and blood loss; oncological data included surgical margins and recurrence; and 90-day postoperative complications were classified according to the Clavien-Dindo classification.
