Aim: Successful deep brain stimulation (DBS) requires precise electrode placement. However, brain shift from loss of cerebrospinal fluid or pneumocephalus still affects aim accuracy. Multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) provides absolute spatial sensitivity, and intraoperative cone-beam computed tomography (iCBCT) has become increasingly used in DBS procedures.

Obesity significantly influences drug pharmacokinetics (PK), which challenges optimal dosing. This study examines the effects of diet-and-exercise-induced weight loss on key drug-metabolizing enzymes and gastric emptying in patients with obesity, who frequently require medications for comorbidities. Participants followed a structured weight management program promoting weight loss over 3-6 months and were not concomitantly on potential CYP inducers or inhibitors.

The fibula, despite being traditionally overlooked compared to the femur and the tibia, has recently received attention in primate functional morphology due to its correlation with the degree of arboreality (DOA). Highlighting further fibular features that are associated with arboreal habits would be key to improving palaeobiological inferences in fossil specimens. Here we present the first investigation on the trabecular bone structure of the primate fibula, focusing on the distal epiphysis, across a vast array of species.

A full-scale structural search was performed using density functional theory calculations and a universal structural prediction evolutionary algorithm. This produced a lowest energy two-dimensional (2D) CoB structure. The CoB-1 global minimum structure has unusual inverse double sandwich features.

The preparation and modification of porous electrodes are an important component of the new generation electrochemical oxidation technology. Rapid preparation of porous electrodes can be easily achieved by synchronous oxygen bubble electrodeposition. However, according to the reaction mechanism of lead dioxide anodic electrodeposition, there is bound to be a competitive reaction of adsorbed hydroxyl radicals in the oxygen bubble template method, which means that synchronous OER impacts both the surface morphology and potentially the crystalline structure of the metal oxides.
