Background: Patient navigation programs are emerging that aim to address disparities in clinical trial participation among medically underserved populations, including racial/ethnic minorities. However, there is a lack of consensus on the role of patient navigators within the clinical trial process as well as outcome measures to evaluate program effectiveness.
Methods: A review of the literature was conducted of PubMed, Medline, CINHAL, and other sources to identify qualitative and quantitative studies on patient navigation in clinical trials. The search yielded 212 studies, of which only 12 were eligible for this review.
Results: The eligible studies reported on the development of programs for patient navigation in cancer clinical trials, including training and implementation among African Americans, American Indians, and Native Hawaiians. A low rate of clinical trial refusal (range, 4%-6%) was reported among patients enrolled in patient navigation programs. However, few studies reported on the efficacy of patient navigation in increasing clinical treatment trial enrollment.
Conclusions: Outcome measures are proposed to assist in developing and evaluating the efficacy and/or effectiveness of patient navigation programs that aim to increase participation in cancer clinical trials. Future research is needed to evaluate the efficacy of patient navigators in addressing barriers to clinical trial participation and increasing enrollment among medically underserved cancer patients.

Background: Facial palsy (FP) is a widespread condition affecting over 3 million people annually, with a complex etiology requiring tailored, multidisciplinary management. Despite advancements, there remains a lack of reliable, automated tools for objective pre- and postoperative assessment, limiting progress in treatment optimization. This study introduces the AI Research Metrics Model (CAARISMA ® ARMM) to evaluate FP severity and outcomes following microsurgical gracilis muscle transfer.

Unlabelled: Intracranial complications in inflammatory diseases of the ear and nose are currently not frequent, but their lethality remains high. The choice of optimal, safe and effective access in surgical treatment of purulent-inflammatory intracranial complications remains a subject of discussions and is based on an individual approach, depends on the volume, localization and clinical condition of the patient.
Objective: To demonstrate a clinical case of successful drainage of the brain frontal lobe abscess using endoscopic transnasal access under the control of the navigation system.

Purpose: Unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) is a viable option for localized osteoarthritis (OA) or avascular osteonecrosis with several advantages over total knee arthroplasty (TKA). UKA implants may feature a tibial component either all-polyethylene (AP) or metal-backed (MB). This study aims to retrospectively compare the clinical outcomes and survivorship of 74 UKAs over 16 years, focusing on comparing the results and survivorship of MB versus AP tibial tray.

: Family physicians are essential to a well-functioning healthcare system; however, they face significant administrative and cognitive burdens that contribute to their burnout and reduce the quality of patient care they provide. Digital health tools offer potential solutions to these problems. This study examined the interface design and features of a digital health platform, Carmi, designed to mitigate administrative inefficiencies and cognitive overload by asynchronous patient data gathering and automated report generation.

Background: Techniques involving dye injection or regional ischemia are commonly used for the precise identification of liver regions during hepatectomy. The visualization of regions with indocyanine green (ICG) has been widely used for liver segmentation. ICG is typically administered only once during each hepatectomy.
