In Denmark, early rehabilitation of acquired head injuries is centralised in two centres, each covering half the country as uptake area. The Regional Hospital Hammel Neurocenter (HN), which covers the western half of Denmark, traditionally receives patients for rehabilitation after discharge from the intensive care unit (ICU). In collaboration with the Regional Hospital in Silkeborg HN now offers early rehabilitation in Silkeborg's ICU setting to patients with acquired brain injury. This preliminary study discusses whether the collaboration facilitates rehabilitation at an earlier state than previously.

Septic arthritis (SA) are rare in patients with burns, but delayed treatment can result in irreversible joint destruction. Early diagnosis and immediate treatment are necessary to prevent joint destruction. Robot training in patients with musculoskeletal diseases and burns, can improve joint range of motion (ROM), muscle strength, and lower extremity function.

This study used functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) to measure aspects of the speech discrimination ability of sleeping infants. We examined the morphology of the fNIRS response to three different speech contrasts, namely "Tea/Ba," "Bee/Ba," and "Ga/Ba." Sixteen infants aged between 3 and 13 months old were included in this study and their fNIRS data were recorded during natural sleep.

Background: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a significant public health issue worldwide that affects millions of people every year. Cognitive impairment is one of the most common long-term consequences of TBI, seriously affect the quality of life. We aimed to develop and validate a predictive model for cognitive impairment in TBI patients, with the goal of early identification and support for those at risk of developing cognitive impairment at the time of hospital admission.

Background: In humans, most spontaneous recovery from motor impairment after stroke occurs in the first 3 months. Studies in animal models show higher responsiveness to training over a similar time-period. Both phenomena are often attributed to a milieu of heightened plasticity, which may share some mechanistic overlap with plasticity associated with normal motor learning.

Background: Malnutrition is a significant challenge in stroke patients, affecting both rehabilitation and independence. This study aims to evaluate whether early L-carnitine supplementation can effectively improve anthropometric parameters and malnutrition status in acute-phase ischemic stroke patients to mitigate the catabolic state.
Methods: Eighty-two first-ever ischemic stroke patients were randomly assigned to either the L-carnitine group (1000 mg three times/day for seven consecutive days) or the matching placebo group.
