Department of Surgery, Division of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery, Kobe University, Graduate School of Medicine, 7-5-2 Kusunoki-cho, Chuo-ku, Kobe, Hyogo, 650-0017, Japan.

Purpose: The impact of body-cavity depth on open (OLR) and laparoscopic liver resection (LLR) of segment 7 remains unclear. Therefore, we investigated the influence of body-cavity depth at the upper-right portion of the abdomen on LLR and OLR of segment 7.

Methods: In total, 101 patients who underwent segment-7 liver resection over 2010-2023 were included.

Background: Hepatic artery infusion pump (HAIP) chemotherapy is a locoregional treatment for intrahepatic malignancies. HAIPs are surgically implanted, and the catheter tip is typically inserted into a ligated gastroduodenal artery stump. Potential complications at the catheter insertion site include dehiscence, pseudoaneurysm or extravasation, and adjacent hepatic arterial stenosis and thrombosis.

Background: Corrosive substance ingestion is rare but can cause severe injury, especially to the upper gastrointestinal tract, and can be a potentially fatal event. Various surgical procedures have been advocated for gastroesophageal reconstruction, but especially those using the right colon, when the ileocecal valve is preserved for gastric reconstruction, are briefly exposed in literature and have not been studied in humans by controlled studies. Using the right colon is believed to be beneficial because of the anti-reflux mechanism of the ileocecal valve.

The aims of this study are to compare the multiphasic contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT) characteristics of infiltrative hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with nodular HCC and to assess the conspicuity of infiltrative HCC on different phases of CECT.  This retrospective study comprised consecutive treatment-naive cirrhotic patients diagnosed with infiltrative and nodular HCC between January 2020 and December 2021 based on a multiphasic CECT (comprising arterial, portal venous, and delayed phases). The diagnosis of HCC was based on the Liver Imaging Reporting and Data System (LI-RADS) v2018 criteria (LR-4 and LR-5 lesions).

Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with inferior vena cava (IVC) tumor thrombus is generally considered to be borderline resectable because of its poor prognosis. This report describes a patient who underwent multidisciplinary treatment for HCC with massive IVC tumor thrombus.

Methods: The 56-year-old woman in this study had diffuse HCC of the medial and anterior segments.
