Article Abstract
We study the atomic layer deposition of TiO2 by means of X-ray absorption spectroscopy. The Ti precursor, titanium isopropoxide, was used in combination with H2O on Si/SiO2 substrates that were heated at 200 °C. The low growth rate (0.15 Å/cycle) and the in situ characterization permitted to follow changes in the electronic structure of TiO2 in the sub-nanometer range, which are influenced by quantum size effects. The modified electronic properties may play an important role in charge carrier transport and separation, and increase the efficiency of energy conversion systems.

The Doktorov's quantum algorithm has been enacted in combination with time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) to simulate the vibronic structure of the UV/visible absorption spectra of the phenol and phenolate molecules. On the one hand, DFT and TD-DFT are employed with classical algorithms to calculate the ground and excited-state electronic structures as well as their vibrational frequencies and normal modes, whereas, on the other hand, quantum algorithms are employed for evaluating the vibrational transition intensities. In comparison to a previous study, , 128, 4369-4377, which demonstrated Doktorov's quantum algorithm as a proof of concept to predict the vibronic structure of ionization spectra, it is applied here to medium-size molecules with more than 30 vibrational normal modes, without accounting for Duschinsky rotations due to software limitations.

We introduce protocols to prepare many-body quantum states with quantum circuits assisted by local operations and classical communication. We show that by lifting the requirement of exact preparation, one can substantially save resources. In particular, the so-called W and, more generally, Dicke states require a circuit depth and number of ancillas per site that are independent of the system size.

Whispering-gallery mode (WGM) resonators, renowned for their high Q-factors and narrow line widths, are widely utilized in integrated photonics. Integrating diffraction gratings onto WGM cavities has gained significant attention because these gratings function as azimuthal refractive index modulators, enabling single-mode WGM emissions and supporting beams with orbital angular momentum (OAM). The introduction of curved grating structures facilitates guided mode resonances by coupling high-order diffracted waves with leaking modes from the waveguide.
