A setup for generating the special superposition of a simultaneously forward- and backward-propagating collective excitation in a nuclear sample is studied. We show that by actively manipulating the scattering channels of single x-ray quanta with the help of a normal incidence x-ray mirror, a nuclear polariton which propagates in two opposite directions can be generated. The two counterpropagating polariton branches are entangled by a single x-ray photon. The quantum nature of the nuclear excitation entanglement gives rise to a subangstrom-wavelength standing wave excitation pattern that can be used as a flexible tool to probe matter dynamically on the subatomic scale.

Neutron scattering and muon spectroscopy are techniques that use subatomic particles to understand materials across a wide range of energy (μeV to tens of eV), length (Å to cm) and time (attosecond to hour) scales. The methods are widely used to study condensed phase materials in areas that span physics, chemistry, biology, engineering and cultural heritage. In this Perspective we consider three questions: (i) will neutron scattering and muon spectroscopy still be needed in the 2050s? (ii) What might the technology to produce neutron and muon beams look like in the 2050s? (iii) What will be the applications in the 2050s? Overall, the neutron/muon ecosystem in the 2050s will have less capacity than now, but greater capability because of the somewhat higher power sources, better instrumentation and data analysis.

. Cone beam CT (CBCT) typically has severe image artifacts and inaccurate HU values, which limits its application in radiation medicines. Scholars have proposed the use of cycle consistent generative adversarial network (Cycle-GAN) to address these issues.

A measurement is presented of a ratio observable that provides a measure of the azimuthal correlations among jets with large transverse momentum . This observable is measured in multijet events over the range of - based on data collected by the CMS experiment in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 , corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 134 . The results are compared with predictions from Monte Carlo parton-shower event generator simulations, as well as with fixed-order perturbative quantum chromodynamics (pQCD) predictions at next-to-leading-order (NLO) accuracy obtained with different parton distribution functions (PDFs) and corrected for nonperturbative and electroweak effects.

This study delves into the structural stability, mechanical stability, and optoelectronic properties of lead-free halide perovskites, specifically XMgI (X = Li/Na), by utilizing the CASTEP and WIEN2k software along with the GGA-PBE and Tran-Blaha modified Becke-Johnson (TB-mBJ) exchange-correlation functions to compare their electronic properties. The structural and mechanical stabilities were confirmed by assessing their tolerance factor and formation energy and by evaluating their elastic constants, respectively.
