Ichthyoses are a heterogeneous group of cutaneous keratinization disorders that can be congenital or acquired. Apart from neoplastic disorders, the acquired form of ichthyosis (AI) has been associated with a variety of diseases including infections, autoimmune/inflammatory and endocrine/metabolic diseases as well as nutritional conditions, medications and others. However, malignancy accounts for half of the reported cases, most commonly including lymphoproliferative disorders. We present a case of AI as a paraneoplastic skin manifestation of a primary, osseous hemangiopericytoma (HP) accompanied by multiple liver metastases. We also review the literature and discuss the necessity of investigating underlying diseases, especially malignancy, when adult-onset ichthyosis arises.

Introduction: Mesenchymal chondrosarcoma (MCS) is a rare subtype of chondrosarcoma that occurs at widespread anatomical locations, such as bone, soft tissue, and intracranial sites. The central nervous system (CNS) is one of the most common origins of extraosseous MCS. However, alternative fusions have not been reported in this tumor.

This case study presents a 66-year-old man referred to the Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery department due to a one-history of persistent pain in the left posterior cervical region. No abnormalities were detected in the oral and pharyngeal regions during clinical and endoscopic examinations. Subsequently, a magnetic resonance imaging revealed a lesion (14 × 12 × 14 mm) into the left parapharyngeal space, with high signal intensity on T2-weighted images, enhancement after contrast medium, restricted signal on diffusion weighted imaging and high vascularization on perfusion MRI.

In the World Health Organization Classification of Brain Tumors Fifth Edition, mesenchymal non-meningothelial tumors involving the central nervous system are divided into three major categories: soft tissue tumors, chondro-osseous tumors, and notochordal tumors. Soft tissue tumors are classified into four groups: fibroblastic and myofibroblastic tumors, vascular tumors, skeletal muscle tumors, and tumors of uncertain differentiation. This article will focus on solitary fibrous tumors(SFTs), which are frequently encountered clinically and continue to undergo classification revisions in the 5 edition, and outline the three newly added histological diagnoses.
