[Tissue reactions induced by provoked tooth displacement in experimental periodontal lysis].

J Biol Buccale

Published: September 1987

A dental appliance with a spring used to induce a mesial movement of the lower molars was placed in the mouth of two groups of golden hamsters, one control and the other submitted to the hyperglucidic diet of Keyes and Jordan. The analysis and histological comparison of the tissue reactions showed important differences in both groups. The alveolar wall remodeling in the experimental group was inhibited as well as the resorption of the hyaline zones.

Emerging roles of hyaluronic acid hydrogels in cancer treatment and wound healing: A review.

Int J Biol Macromol

January 2025

Center of Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine, Gaozhou People's Hospital, No. 89 Xiguan Road, Gaozhou 525299, Guangdong, China. Electronic address:

Hyaluronic acid (HA)-derived hydrogels signify a noticeable development in biomedical uses, especially in cancer treatment and wound repair. Cancer continues to be one of the foremost causes of death globally, with current therapies frequently impeded by lack of specificity, serious side effects, and the emergence of resistance. HA hydrogels, characterized by their distinctive three-dimensional structure, hydrophilic nature, and biocompatibility, create an advanced platform for precise drug delivery, improving therapeutic results while minimizing systemic toxicity.

Redox regulation of focal adhesions.

Focal adhesions (FAs), multi-protein complexes that link the extracellular matrix to the intracellular cytoskeleton, are key mediators of cell adhesion, migration, and proliferation. These dynamic structures act as mechanical sensors, transmitting stimuli from the extracellular to intracellular environment activating in this way signaling pathways and enabling cells to adapt to environmental changes. As such, FAs are critical for tissue organization and serve as hubs governing cell spatial arrangement within the organism.

Patterning soft materials with cell adhesion motifs can be used to emulate the structures found in natural tissues. While patterning in tissue is driven by cellular assembly, patterning soft materials in the laboratory most often involves light-mediated chemical reactions to spatially control the presentation of cell binding sites. Here we present hydrogels that are formed with two responsive crosslinkers-an anthracene-maleimide adduct and a disulfide linkage-thereby allowing simultaneous or sequential patterning using force and UV light.

Background And Objective: Yttrium-90 plays a significant role in managing drug-resistant inflammatory arthritis through radionuclide synovectomy, where the radioisotope is injected into the affected joint to alleviate pain and inflammation by targeting the synovial tissue. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of Yttrium-90 hydroxyapatite radionuclide synovectomy in improving joint functionality, as judged by physicians, in patients with inflammatory arthritis who had not responded to conventional treatments.

Methods: Patients with inflammatory arthritis were recruited from the orthopedics department and referred to the nuclear medicine department for evaluation.
