Well-defined plate and hollow disk of silica-dioctadecyldimethylammonium hybrid particles were obtained by the sol-gel reaction of tetraethoxysilane in the presence of dioctadecyldimethylammonium chloride, where synthetic condition was determined based on the Stöber synthesis for micron size silica sphere. The particle size was several hundreds of nm in the radius and several tens of nm in the thickness. X-ray powder diffraction patterns indicated that the products possess layered mesostructures, which were thought to be directed by the lamellar aggregates of dioctadecyldimethylammonium.

Electric aircraft such as electric aircraft and electric vehicles play a key role in the future electric aviation industry, but they put forward huge requirements for battery energy density. However, the current high-energy-density lithium battery technology still needs to be broken through. Herein, through the molecular structure design of the polymer electrolyte, a strategy of a fast migration channel and wide electrochemical window is proposed to fabricate high-voltage-resistant solid polymer electrolyte (HVPE) via in situ polymerization.

Unlabelled: Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales (CRE) are divided into two distinct groups: carbapenemase-producing (CPE) and non-carbapenemase-producing (non-CPE). The population of non-CPE growing on CPE selective plates during routine screening is usually not reported and is not well defined. This study aimed to characterize non-CPE isolates growing on those plates.

The ability to manufacture complex 3D structures with nanometer-scale resolution, such as Fresnel Zone Plates (FZPs), is crucial to achieve state-of-the-art control in X-ray sources for use in a diverse range of cutting-edge applications. This study demonstrates a novel approach combining Electron Beam Lithography (EBL) and cryoetching to produce silicon-based FZP prototypes as a test bench to assess the strong points and limitations of this fabrication method. Through this method, we obtained FZPs with 100 zones, a diameter of 20 µm, and an outermost zone width of 50 nm, resulting in a high aspect ratio that is suitable for use across a range of photon energies.

Article Synopsis
  • - A new genus of leafhoppers called Dutrapona has been identified within the Gyponini tribe, including three new species from Central and South America.
  • - The newly described species are Dutrapona tenuis from Costa Rica, Dutrapona reticulata from Ecuador, and Dutrapona zahniseri from Panama, with Dutrapona tenuis being the type species.
  • - Dutrapona can be differentiated from other genera in the Gyponini tribe by its unique physical traits, such as specific shapes and positions of ocelli, distinctive features of the crown, and characteristics of the male reproductive structures.

T4b carcinomas are termed as very locally advanced carcinomas of the oral cavity and are deemed borderline resectable or unresectable. The role of surgery for these patients is not well defined. We therefore aimed to relook at the role of surgery for cT4b carcinoma of the oral cavity.
