Objectives: This study aims to identify the causes of failure in Fontan patients with a total cavopulmonary connection.
Methods: We conducted a comprehensive review of all patients who underwent a total cavopulmonary connection procedure at our centre between 1988 and 2023, aiming to identify and analyse the factors contributing to Fontan failure (defined as mortality, heart transplantation, Fontan takedown, protein-losing enteropathy, plastic bronchitis or New York Heart Association Functional Classification class III or IV).
Results: The study included 217 patients (median age at time of Fontan completion 3.

The case was a 15-year-old male with a history of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia refractory to medical therapy and prior catheter. A repeat electrophysiology study and catheter ablation were applied. Baseline AH and HV intervals were 100 and 55 ms during normal sinus rhythm (NSR), respectively.

Introduction: Cryoablation is being used as an alternative to radiofrequency (RF) ablation for atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia (AVNRT) owing to the lower risk of atrioventricular block (AVB) compared to RF ablation. Junctional rhythm often occurs during successful application of RF ablation for AVNRT. In contrast, junctional rhythm has rarely been reported to occur during cryoablation.

At critically high temperatures, atrioventricular (AV) block causes ventricular bradycardia and collapse of cardiac output in fish. Here, the possible role of the AV canal in high temperature-induced heart failure was examined. To this end, optical mapping was used to measure action potential (AP) conduction in isolated AV junction preparations of the rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) heart during acute warming/cooling in the presence of 4 or 8 mM external K concentration.
