Based on the observation of 40 patients the authors consider that the greatest amount of postoperative complications in patients with gastric cancer make their appearance after reconstructive and palliative gastrectomies and combined operative interventions. Timely relaparotomy allowed saving 37.5% of the patients who had such complications as incompetence of anastomosis sutures, pancreanecrosis, peritonitis, intraabdominal abscesses. A retrospective analysis of causes of the complications allowed developing a prophylactic complex of measures which includes means of the operative technique and preparation of weakened organism of oncological patients to the foregoing operative trauma.

Background: Consensus on the nomenclature and indications for reoperation for post-operative pancreatic fistula (POPF) after pancreatoduodenectomy (PD) is lacking. This study explores the available literature to classify the different types of reoperations and report outcomes.
Methods: A systematic literature search was performed, including articles from 2010 to 2024 reporting reoperations for POPF after PD.

Although rarely fatal, complications of ventral midline laparotomy incision in equine patients increase hospitalization cost and duration and may jeopardize return to athletic function. Therefore, many techniques have been developed to reduce their occurrence and expedite their resolution when they occur. Our technique of celiotomy incision closure includes the use of tension sutures (vertical U mattress) of polyglactin 910 on the linea alba, which is then apposed by polyglactin 910 interrupted sutures or a simple continuous pattern suture with a stop midway before routine closure of the superficial layers.

Introduction: Congenital causes of duodenal obstruction can be grouped into intrinsic and extrinsic causes. The degree of obstruction caused by such etiologies determines the severity and timing of symptom presentation. Early neonatal diagnosis is common in patients with etiologies that present with high degrees of obstruction such as atresia whereas etiologies that cause lesser degrees of obstruction such as malrotation and duodenal stenosis can go undiagnosed into adulthood.

Purpose: Abdominal compartment syndrome (ACS) is a well-known concept after trauma surgery or after major abdominal surgery in critically ill patients. However, ACS as a complication after complex hernia repair is considered rare and supporting literature is scarce. As complexity in abdominal wall repair increases, with the introduction of new tools and advanced techniques, ACS incidence might rise and should be carefully considered when dealing with complex abdominal wall hernias.
