One-carbon metabolism (OCM) is a series of connected pathways involving the methionine-folate cycles, transsulfuration, polyamine synthesis, nucleotide synthesis, free-radical scavenging, and energy metabolism. The term cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) includes a group of malignant tumors that develop in the efferent bile ducts and are characterized by a high degree of heterogeneity. These differences between intrahepatic, perihilar and distal CCAs run through all aspects of the disease including the etiology, pathogenesis, symptoms, diagnostics and treatment. This review article presents the current developments in this field of diseases.

Lymphatic anatomy of the abdomen is reviewed with focus on hepatic and mesenteric vessels in normal and pathologic conditions. Anatomy and pathophysiology is highlight using both specialized fluoroscopy and T2 Dynamic Contrast MR lymphangiography (DCMRL). Plastic bronchitis, chylothorax, protein losing enteropathy, and both cirrhosis and ascites due to hepatic lymphatics are highlighted.

Introduction: The increase in the number of patients with hemoglobinopathies in Europe in recent decades highlights the need for more detailed epidemiological information in Spain. To fulfil this need, the Spanish Society of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology (SEHOP) sponsored the creation of a national registry of hemoglobinopathies known as REHem-AR (Spanish Registry of Hemoglobinopathies and Rare Anemias). Data from the transfusion-dependent (TDT) and non-transfusion-dependent (NTDT) β-thalassemia cohorts are described and analyzed.
