Malignant triton tumors (MTTs) are a rare subtype of malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor (MPNST) showing rhabdomyoblastic differentiation, which have no treatment consensus and a poor prognosis. This case report presented the case of a 42-year-old male patient with a large MTT located in the anterior mediastinum. The patient underwent palliative chemoradiotherapy and interstitial chemotherapy and received traditional Chinese medicine. Localization of an MTT in the anterior mediastinum is extremely rare. To the best of our knowledge, this is only the fourth study of an MTT localized in the anterior mediastinum that has been documented in the English literature.

Cellular schwannoma is a schwannoma subtype with histopathologic features resembling those of malignant tumors. We report a case of a cellular schwannoma arising at the resection margin of an anterior mediastinal leiomyosarcoma. An 88-year-old woman who had undergone resection of an anterior mediastinal leiomyosarcoma 2 years previously developed a mediastinal tumor at the resection margin, raising suspicion of leiomyosarcoma recurrence.

Metastasectomy for isolated pulmonary metastasis can improve disease-free and overall-survival in well-selected patients. When feasible, a minimally invasive wedge resection is the preferred approach. However, a hostile ipsilateral chest can hinder surgical resection.

Background: Emphysematous esophagitis is a very rare disease and there are only a few previous reports in the literature. Previously reported cases have resulted in emphysematous esophagitis following anterior cervical procedures or ingestion of hydrogen peroxide (HP). In this report, we describe a case in which a patient with emphysematous esophagitis accompanied by gastritis without the above predisposing factors was treated with conservative treatment.

Background And Objective: Thymic epithelial tumors, including thymomas and thymic carcinomas, represent the most common mediastinal tumors and account for up to 50% of all anterior mediastinal tumors. For early stages of these thymic tumors, complete resection of the entire thymus is the recommended treatment. The transition from open surgery to video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) and recently to robotic-assisted thoracic surgery (RATS) has fundamentally altered the treatment of thymic tumors.

Physical activity reduces chronic disease risk and enhances immune function, but its causal relationship with thymic tumors-rare neoplasms of the anterior mediastinum-remains unclear. This study investigated whether physical activity reduces thymic tumor risk and whether circulating cytokines mediate this effect. We performed a two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis using genetic variants as instrumental variables for physical activity and cytokines.
