Objectives: To examine the effect of neuraminidase (NA) mutations on the NA inhibitor (NAI) resistance phenotype, the recombinant influenza A/Chungbuk/4448/2008(H1N1) virus isolated in South Korea during the 2008-2009 season was generated by reverse genetics.

Methods: Site-directed mutagenesis was introduced on the NA gene of A/Chungbuk/4448/2008(H1N1) virus, and a total of 23 single, double, and triple mutants were generated. Resistance phenotype of these recombinant viruses was determined by NA-inhibition (NAI) assays based on a fluorometric method using two NAIs (oseltamivir and zanamivir).

Results: NA-inhibition assays showed that all the single and double mutants containing the Y275 except the single Y275-E119V mutant conferred important levels of resistance to oseltamivir, whereas all the single, double, and triple mutants containing the E119V mutation were associated with the resistance to zanamivir.

Conclusion: Considering the effect of mutations in NA gene on the resistance to NAIs, it is important to monitor the possible emergence and dissemination of multidrug-resistant variants in the human population due to amino acid changes at NA gene as well as to develop novel NAIs.

Background: Surgical intervention is critical in the treatment of hip developmental dysplasia in children. Perioperative analgesia, usually based on high opioid dosages, is frequently used in these patients. In some circumstances, regional anesthetic procedures such as caudal block and lumbar plexus block have also been used.

Enantioselective construction of silicon-stereogenic vinylsilanes from simple alkenes.

Nat Commun

January 2025

State Key Laboratory and Institute of Elemento-Organic Chemistry, College of Chemistry, Frontiers Science Center for New Organic Matter, Haihe Laboratory of Sustainable Chemical Transformations, Nankai University 94 Weijin Road, Tianjin, China.

The diverse utility of acyclic vinylsilanes has driven the interest in the synthesis of enantioenriched vinylsilanes bearing a Si-stereogenic center. However, the predominant approaches for catalytic asymmetric generation of Si-stereogenic vinylsilanes have mainly relied on transition metal-catalyzed reactions of alkynes with different silicon sources. Here we successfully realize the enantioselective synthesis of linear silicon-stereogenic vinylsilanes with good yields and enantiomeric ratios from simple alkenes under rhodium catalysis.

Background: Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) after orthognathic surgery remains one of the most common side effects despite the use of several medications.

Purpose: The study aimed to compare the frequencies of PONV between a combination of metoclopramide with granisetron and granisetron alone.

Study Design, Setting, Sample: A randomized double-blind clinical trial was conducted in 66 consecutive patients who underwent orthognathic surgery at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Bezmialem Vakif University.

Ingeniously regulating the conformational equilibrium and ESPT mechanism of HBT-DPI by solvent environment: A novel perspective.

Spectrochim Acta A Mol Biomol Spectrosc

January 2025

Jilin Key Laboratory of Solid-State Laser Technology and Application, School of Physics, Changchun University of Science and Technology, Changchun 130022 China. Electronic address:

HBT-DPI was a single-molecule multi-conformational fluorescent material and had unique applications for hydrophobic/hydrophilic mapping on large-scale heterogeneous surfaces. In this paper, the different proton transfer processes and luminescence mechanisms of HBT-DPI in Dichloromethane (DCM, no hydrogen bond (HB) receptor) and N, N-Dimethylformamide (DMF, HB receptor) solvents were systematically studied. Using the quantum chemistry method, the stable structures of HBT-DPI in two solvents were determined based on the Boltzmann distribution.

Polyaniline-ZnTi-LDH heterostructure with d-π coupling for enhanced photocatalysis of pollutant removal.

J Colloid Interface Sci

School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Central South University, Changsha 410083, Hunan, China. Electronic address:

Heterointerface engineering is an effective strategy to design and construct high-performance photocatalysts. Herein, polyaniline (PANI) nanoparticles and ZnTi layered double hydroxide (ZnTi-LDH) nanosheets were integrated to form organic-inorganic heterostructure (PANI/LDH) via d-π electronic coupling using in-situ polymerization for photocatalytic oxidation/reduction towards tetracycline (TC) and Cr(VI). The photocatalytic activity was closely related to feed amount of aniline (Ani) in the polymerization process, which the abundant PANI nanoparticles were evenly distributed on the surface of ZnTi-LDH nanosheets at the proper Ani feed amount, and thus reinforced d-π electronic coupling at the organic-inorganic interfaces more efficiently.
