Wound bed preparation (WBP) is a paradigm for holistic patient care that includes treatment of the cause along with patient-centered concerns before optimizing the components of local wound care (debridement, infection/inflammation, moisture balance, and, when required, the edge effect). This review incorporates a methylene blue and gentian violet bound foam dressing for critical colonization and an ovine collagen extracellular matrix dressing for reduction of elevated levels of matrix metalloproteases into the WBP paradigm.

Background: A wound must progress through serial steps of healing to achieve structural and functional stability. This process is hampered in chronic wounds and wounds with delayed healing. Wound cover through skin grafting or a flap, or spontaneous healing through epithelization, requires healthy granulation tissue.

Background: The presence of heavy microbial colony formation, polymicrobial infection, and local altered pH contribute to the high rate of postoperative complications following surgical reconstruction of stage IV pressure injuries (PIs).

Purpose: The objective of this study was to determine the rate of bacteria-related postoperative complications following surgical reconstruction of stage IV PIs in which a pure hypochlorous acid (pHA) antimicrobially preserved wound cleaning solution was used.

Methods: This 1-year retrospective review evaluated the outcomes of patients who underwent surgical reconstructive treatment of chronic stage IV PI.

Background: The harm-benefit balance for early out-of-bed mobilisation of patients with severe acquired brain injury (ABI) in neurointensive care units (neuro-ICUs) is unclear, and there are no clinical guidelines. This study aimed to survey the current clinical practice and perceptions among clinicians involved in first out-of-bed mobilisation in Scandinavian neuro-ICUs.

Methods: This was a cross-sectional, anonymous, web-based survey; the reporting follows the recommended CROSS checklist.

Purpose: In this retrospective study, we aimed to evaluate the efficacy and incidence of radiation-induced brain necrosis (RBN) after volumetric modulated arc therapy-based stereotactic irradiation (VMAT-STI) for brain metastases.

Methods: In the 220 brain metastatic lesions included between January 2020 and June 2022, there were 1-9 concurrently treated lesions (median 1). A biologically effective dose (BED)10 of 80 Gy and a reduced BED10 of 50 Gy were prescribed to the gross tumor volume (GTV) and planning target volume (PTV) (PTV = GTV + 3 mm) margins, respectively.

Decellularised nerve transplantation has limited therapeutic efficacy for peripheral nerve injuries. In this study, we tested the hypothesis that nerve regeneration can be promoted by increasing blood circulation to the decellularised nerve through the surrounding blood-flow environment. We transplanted 20 mm decellularised nerves into sciatic nerve defects in Sprague-Dawley rats (female, 12 weeks old).
