High-power continuous-wave generation at 533 nm is demonstrated in bulk periodically poled KTiOAsO(4) (KTA) by single-pass frequency doubling of a VBG-locked Yb-doped fiber laser. Absorption characteristic and second harmonic generation (SHG) performance of different KTA samples are studied and compared. The best performing sample catered for 25%-efficient SHG of 13.6 W green light with high spatial beam quality M(2) <1.2.

The control of temporal noise of the pump could add an additional degree of freedom to manipulate the spectrum of continuous-wave (CW) pumped SC generation. In this paper, we experimentally tailor the CW-pumped supercontinuum (SC) generation in a cascaded Raman random fiber laser (CRRFL) based on a 1 µm pump with tunable temporal dynamics. The pump is based on a spectrally filtered ytterbium-doped random fiber laser (YRFL) seed laser, which can be amplified to a 10 W level with the tunable temporal noise.

Transverse mode instability (TMI) significantly limits the power scaling of ytterbium-doped fiber lasers. In this Letter, what we believe to be a novel TMI mitigation strategy is proposed and demonstrated in a bidirectional output fiber laser. On the basis of the continuous wave (CW) pump, integrating a quasi-continuous wave (QCW) pump can effectively improve the TMI threshold of the system.

The development and implementation of an unstable resonator laser system were explored in the present study, employing dual-end pumping of a Yb:YAG slab laser via laser diode (LD) arrays. The proposed system exhibited significant improvements in both power output and beam quality. The experimental design and execution of the laser oscillator were conducted under controlled conductive cooling conditions.

High-power mid-infrared fiber lasers, featuring superior beam quality and good power-scaling ability, have a few important applications in material processing, medical surgery, and molecule spectroscopy. The high-power pump light combiner, as one of the key elements for constructing a mid-infrared fiber laser, is crucial for the laser performance. While some advanced side-pump combiners based on fluoride fiber have been reported in recent literatures, the thermal stability of the fluoride fiber combiner, which is closely-related to its power-scaling capability, is a long-living challenge.
