Hydrogels based on -isopropylacrylamide and sodium acrylate as ionic comonomer were synthesized by free radical polymerization in water using ,'-methylenebisacrylamide as crosslinker and ammonium persulfate as initiator. The glass transition of dried copolymers poly(-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPA) and poly(sodium acrylate) (SA) gels and demixing/mixing transition of PNIPA-SA hydrogels swollen with increasing amounts of water were studied using conventional differential scanning calorimetry. In the crosslinked polymers, the glass transition linearly increases, and the transition range becomes broader, with increasing crosslinker content. Increasing content of ionic comonomer also produces an increase of glass transition temperature, which moves to higher temperatures with higher sodium acrylate fraction. The influence of chemical structure of PNIPA-SA hydrogels on the lower critical solution temperature (LCST) of PNIPA-SA/water mixtures during heating and cooling was quantified as function of the content of the crosslinker and the ionic comonomer, as well as water content of the hydrogel in the range from 95 to 70 wt%. At parity of water content, the LCST occurs at higher temperatures for gels containing higher amounts of sodium acrylate. Similarly, the introduction of ,'-methylenebisacrylamide causes an increase of the LCST, which grows with increasing of crosslinking degree of the hydrogel.

Single and dual-drug delivery systems (DDSs) based on linear choline polymers were designed through the controlled polymerization of a pharmaceutically functionalized monomer, i.e., [2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl]trimethylammonium, with counterions of cloxacillin (TMAMA/CLX), or its copolymerization with [2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl]trimethylammonium with ampicillin (TMAMA/AMP), providing antibiotic properties.

As water-saturated polymer networks, the easy water loss of hydrogels directly affects their end-use applications. Minimizing the ratio of free water and increasing the ratio of bound water in the gel system has become key to extending the service life. In this work, an ionogel is prepared that effectively regulates the proportion of free water and bound water through the formation of wrinkle angles by the hydrophilic and hydrophobic chains in the gel system and the non-volatile nature of the ionic liquid.

This paper details the preparation of acrylamide-based supermacroporous cryogels and their application in removing lysozyme from aqueous solutions. N-Vinyl imidazole was copolymerized with acrylamide as a comonomer to impart pseudo-specificity to the cryogels, forming poly(AAm-VIM) cryogel. Characterization studies to assess the physical and chemical properties of the synthesized cryogels involved swelling tests, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), elemental analysis, Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM), and Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA-DTA).

Binary and ternary copolymers of acrylonitrile (AN), -butyl acrylate (TBA), and -butyl acrylate (BA) are synthesized through conventional radical polymerization in DMSO in the presence of 2-mercaptoethanol. The thermal behavior of binary and ternary copolymers is studied under argon atmosphere and in air. It is demonstrated that the copolymers of AN contain 1-10 mol.

We present a series of newly developed donor-acceptor (D-A) polymers designed specifically for organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs) synthesized by a straightforward route. All polymers exhibited accumulation mode behavior in OECT devices, and tuning of the donor comonomer resulted in a three-order-of-magnitude increase in transconductance. The best polymer gFBT-g2T, exhibited normalized peak transconductance (g) of 298±10.
