Objective: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a prevalent metabolic disorder with an increased risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD) that is enhanced by obesity. This study sought to determine whether a panel of cardiovascular risk proteins (CVRPs) would be dysregulated in overweight/obese PCOS patients, highlighting potential biomarkers for CVD in PCOS.

Methods: In this exploratory cross-sectional study, plasma levels of 54 CVRPs were analyzed in women with PCOS (n = 147) and controls (n = 97).

: Anthracyclines remain a pivotal element of numerous tumor management regimens; however, their utilization is associated with a range of adverse effects, the most significant of which is cardiotoxicity. Research is constantly being conducted to identify substances that could be incorporated into ongoing cancer chemotherapy to mitigate anthracycline-induced cardiotoxicity. Recently, the apelinergic system has received a lot of attention in this field due to its involvement in cardiovascular regulation.

Hydroxytyrosol protects isoproterenol-induced myocardial infarction through activating notch signaling.

Iran J Basic Med Sci

January 2025

Department of Medical Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine, Adıyaman University, Adıyaman, 02040, Turkey.

Objectives: In this investigation, the protective effects of hydroxytyrosol (HT) administered prior to myocardial infarction in rats were examined, with a particular focus on its potential roles within the Notch pathway.

Materials And Methods: The animals were categorized into seven groups (n=7): control, myocardial infarction (MI) 6 hr, MI 24 hr, MI 7 day, MI+HT 6 hr, MI+HT 24 hr, MI+HT 7 day. In order to create infarction, the rats received a subcutaneous injection of isoproterenol at a dose of 200 mg/kg.

Metabolomic Analysis of the Effects of Canagliflozin on HFpEF Rats and Its Underlying Mechanism.

Endocr Metab Immune Disord Drug Targets

January 2025

Department of Internal Medicine, Hebei Medical University, Shijiazhuang, Hebei, China.

Background: Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) represents a challenging cardiovascular condition characterized by normal systolic function but impaired diastolic performance. Despite its increasing prevalence, therapeutic options remain limited. This study investigated the metabolic effects of canagliflozin, a sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, on cardiac function and energy metabolism in HFpEF.

Cinnamic acid lowers blood pressure and reverses vascular endothelial dysfunction in rats.

J Food Drug Anal

December 2024

Cardiovascular Research Group, Department of Pharmacy, COMSATS University Islamabad, Abbottabad Campus, University Road, Abbottabad-22060, KP, Pakistan.

Cinnamic acid (CA) possesses important cardiovascular effects such as cardioprotective, antiatherogenic, antihyperlipidemic and antioxidant, which predicts its potential role in the treatment of hypertension. The study was executed to investigate the antihypertensive potential of CA in Sprague Dawley (SD) rats followed by evaluation in diverse vascular preparations. Invasive blood pressure monitoring technique was used in normotensive and hypertensive rats, under anesthesia.
