When asked what their major problems are, many nursing deans would state that they are very concerned about budget cuts and faculty shortages. Yet, there is little, if anything in the literature describing how administrators are dealing with these problems. This article describes three strategies that we employed to address these issues. The first strategy, our home hospital program, involves qualified hospital staff serving as clinical instructors. The second strategy, a collaborative on-line doctor of nursing practice program, reduces the number of courses our faculty must teach, while ensuring adequate numbers of students. Lastly, differential fees is a strategy whereby students enrolled in high-cost educational programs (e.g., nursing) pay greater fees but reap supportive benefits that increase their success in the program. These strategies have allowed us to enhance our educational programs despite budget cuts and faculty shortages.

Ruminant species are important to human society due to their ability to convert human-inedible sources of energy and protein to human-edible food. Greater efficiency of meat and milk production will require the management of the complex reproductive biology of many cattle with a limited capacity and limited budget within a smaller, hotter, and more climatically erratic land area. The over-riding drivers of new reproductive technologies in North America will be smaller economic margins, larger herd size, fewer agricultural workers per farm, and a greater reliance on automation to offset the reduced agricultural labor force.

South Africa has a high burden of drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB). A policy to decentralize DR-TB treatment from specialized central hospitals to more accessible district facilities was introduced in 2011, but to date implementation has been suboptimal, with variable pace, coverage and models of care emerging. This study explored multilevel policy implementation of DR-TB decentralization in two provinces of South Africa, Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal.
