Objective: This research uses the quality-adjusted life expectancy (QALE) method to assess the QALE changes of rural residents before and after introducing telemedicine health services.
Materials And Methods: Based on Taiwan's experiences of telemedicine provision over the period 1995-2004, this representative of a national sample is composed of 85 cases for people living in Penghu County, a remote area in Taiwan. Cases were evaluated using persons with life expectancy at birth from 85 to 0 years.
Results: The provision of telemedicine health services increased rural population QALE by 2.91 quality-adjusted life years. Telemedicine provision does improve rural residents' health status. Relative to the index population living in Taipei, the capital of Taiwan, the survival ratios of the population of concern >65 years decreased faster and were less than those of the index population >65 years by at least 7% and 3%, respectively, before and after introducing telemedicine health services.
Conclusions: It appears that the needs for telemedicine health services increased along with the aging of our society in rural and underserved regions.

Background: Cervical cancer disparities persist among minoritized women due to infrequent screening and poor follow-up. Structural and psychosocial barriers to following up with colposcopy are problematic for minoritized women. Evidence-based interventions using patient navigation and tailored telephone counseling, including the Tailored Communication for Cervical Cancer Risk (TC3), have modestly improved colposcopy attendance.

Background: /purposeSince 1995, Taiwan's National Health Insurance (NHI) has offered a comprehensive dental coverage to over 99 % of the population. This study mainly analyzed the dental service utilization and expenditure trends by the gender, age, and service type and evaluated the resource allocation across different demographics from 2000 to 2020.
Materials And Methods: Nationwide NHI administrative data were used to assess the dental visit rates, average visits per user, and per capita expenditure by the gender, age, and 11 service categories for the years 2000, 2005, 2010, 2015, and 2020.

Background: Telesurgery has been made increasingly possible with the advancements in robotic surgical platforms and network connectivity. However, long-distance transnational complex robotic surgeries such as gastrectomy have yet to be attempted.
Methods: Multiple transnational network connections by Science Innovation Network (SINET), Japan Gigabit Network (JGN), and Arterial Research and Education Network in Asia-Pacific (ARENA-PAC) were established and tested by multiple surgeons in a dry box model.

Introduction: Reviews of economic evaluations of telehealth interventions found that the current evidence is inconsistent with standard guidelines for conducting economic evaluation. The reviews conclude that most economic evaluations of telehealth interventions are small-scale and short-term. The choice of time horizon in economic evaluation, in general, is an important part.
