Donor-derived cell-free DNA (dd-cfDNA) in the peripheral blood of allograft recipients has shown to early identify allograft injury. In this study, we assessed the factors that influence the amount of circulating dd-cfDNA during the first month postkidney transplant as well as its longitudinal trend. A consecutive series of 98 adult kidney transplant recipients at a single center between July 2018 and January 2020 were included in this study.

Purpose: MET amplification (amp) is a driver of acquired resistance to epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) antibodies in patients with RAS wild-type (WT) metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC). Savolitinib is an oral small molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor that has demonstrated anti-tumor activity in MET-driven advanced solid tumors. We report the results of a phase 2 study of savolitinib in patients with mCRC with MET amp detected by circulating cell free (cf)DNA.

Article Synopsis
  • High altitude (HA) can induce various illnesses like high altitude pulmonary edema (HAPE) in unacclimatized individuals, impacting their health significantly.
  • This study focuses on circulating cell free (cf) DNA as a biomarker for HAPE, finding higher cfDNA levels in HAPE patients compared to healthy controls and highlanders, which correlates with inflammation.
  • Additionally, elevated markers of cell death and oxidative DNA damage in HAPE patients suggest that cfDNA fragments might contribute to the inflammatory response and understanding HAPE's pathophysiology.

The targeted therapies and immunotherapies in thoracic oncology, particularly for NS-NSCLC, are associated with an increase in the number of predictive biomarkers to be assessed in routine clinical practice. These treatments are administered thanks to marketing authorization for use in daily practice or are evaluated during clinical trials. Since the molecular targets to be identified are more and more complex and numerous, it is now mandatory to use NGS.

Intense exercise leads to neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) formation, which triggers cell disintegration. NET, as well as other processes of apoptosis, necrosis, and spontaneous secretion, result in increased levels of cell-free DNA (cf-DNA) in the circulation. An increment of cf-DNA is also observed in autoimmune diseases, such as type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM).
