Introduction: This study was carried out to evaluate PCR-based method for detection of DNA in goat milk. It utilized primers targeting the mitochondrial cytochrome -b (mtcyt-b) gene, which was used as a target DNA for PCR amplification.

Methods: For the specific identification of goat mtcyt-b gene, pair of primers (GSL1, GSR2), were used, which produced a 428 base pair (bp) PCR product from milk samples as well as from peripheral blood. Amplification products were visualized on ethidium bromide-stained agarose gels.

Results And Discussion: Amplification products were not detected when the PCR was applied to DNA from animal species including cattle, sheep, swine, camel, deer, horse, donkey, and human, which indicates that the 2 pairs of primers are specific for goat.

Conclusion: DNA can be extracted from goat milk and would be advantageous in the variety of application such as species identification in milk and milk.

Goat milk yogurt infused with hemp extract (HE) is a novel dairy product; however, the unpleasant flavors from hemp terpenes and goat milk may impact its acceptance and popularity. This study aimed to investigate the effect of polymerized whey protein (PWP) on mitigating the hempy flavor of HE-infused goat milk yogurt and its impact on the physicochemical properties, microstructure, and probiotic survivability. Goat milk yogurt samples were infused with either nothing (plain flavor), HE, HE plus whey protein isolate, or HE plus PWP.

Free oligosaccharides in human milk have many biological functions for infant health. The reducing end of most human milk oligosaccharides is lactose, and caprine milk was reported to contain oligosaccharides structurally similar to those present in human milk. The structures of oligosaccharides were traditionally determined using nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy or enzyme digestion followed by various detection methods, e.

Goats are the one of the most susceptible domestic species to toxoplasmosis affecting animal health and production. The present study aimed to determine the seroprevalence of T. gondii infection in dairy goats from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, as well as to evaluate associated risk factors, parasitic DNA detection in raw goat milk samples, and attempts to isolate the parasite from raw goat milk samples.

Milk is commonly screened both for indicators of animal disease and health, but also for foodborne hazards. Included in these analyses is the detection of , that can produce an enterotoxin, causing staphylococcal food poisoning (SFP), which often leads to sudden onset of significant gastrointestinal symptoms in humans. Epidemiological data on SFP are limited, particularly in low- and middle-income countries.
