Isometric tension developed by different receptor agonists was found to be decreased after pretreatment of rat aortic rings with IBMX or Db cAMP and only partially restored by CaCl2 and A 23187. The contraction produced by Bay k 8644 was converted into dose-dependent relaxation after pretreatment of the aorta rings with Db cAMP or IBMX. An alteration of the calcium channel is assumed to play a common role in the cAMP-dependent inhibition of the smooth muscle contraction.

Background: Simulated Physiological Oocyte Maturation (SPOM) mimics the physiological events of oocyte maturation in the presence of cAMP modulators. These modulators increase the intracellular concentrations of cAMP, which inhibits the immediate resumption of meiosis and gives the oocyte more time to gain optimal developmental competence. In addition, L-carnitine helps to increase the energy supply of cells through the β-oxidation of fatty acids.

It is well understood that odorants interact with specialized G-protein coupled receptors embedded in the ciliary membrane of olfactory sensory neurons (OSN) which initiates a voltage-generating intracellular cascade of signal transduction events that can be recorded at the epithelial level as an electroolfactogram (EOG). While the depolarizing excitatory pathway in vertebrates involving cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP)-induced Na/Ca influx and calcium-induced Cl efflux is well established, there is evidence of potassium-associated inhibitory currents that correspond with cellular activation. While several Ca-dependent feedback mechanisms contribute to cellular deactivation which have been commonly attributed to these inhibitory currents, the frequently observed positive ionic conductance prior to excitatory depolarization have led many to suggest an additional earlier inhibitory mechanism at the receptor level that may be independent of downstream calcium influx.

Background/objectives: UV radiation is a major factor contributing to DNA damage in skin cells, including stem cells and mesenchymal stem cells, leading to the depletion of these crucial cells. This study examined whether a mixture of Indian gooseberry and barley sprout (IB) could inhibit UVB irradiation and 3-isobutyl-1-methylxanthine (IBMX)-induced photoaging and oxidative stress in the skin using HaCaT, Hs27, and B16F10 cells.
Materials/methods: The moisturizing-related factors, the collagen synthesis-related c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK)/c-Fos/c-Jun/matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) pathway, and the melanogenesis-related cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP)/protein kinase A (PKA)/cAMP-responsive binding protein (CREB)/melanocyte inducing transcription factor (MITF)/tyrosinase-related protein (TRP)/tyrosinase activation pathways were analyzed by an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, real-time polymerase chain reaction, and Western blot analysis.

The epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT) is a multistep process involving structural and functional alterations that are required for cancer metastasis, as well as loss of epithelial markers (e.g., E-cadherin/CDH1) and gain of mesenchymal markers (e.

The presence of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) has been considered to be a fundamental factor in ensuring meiotic arrest prior to ovulation. cAMP is regarded as a key molecule in the regulation of oocyte maturation. However, it has been reported that increased levels of intracellular cAMP can result in abnormal cytokinesis, with some MI oocytes leading to symmetrically cleaved 2-cell MII oocytes.
