While the random organization transition describes the change from reversible to irreversible dynamics in a nonequilibrium system, the athermal jamming transition at zero shear rate occurs when particles can no longer avoid overlaps. Despite the obvious differences between these two transitions, we show that they both occur within the same model packing problem. In this unifying model system the particles are first randomly distributed and then displaced in each step if they overlap. For random displacements we obtain a random organization transition, while jamming occurs in the case of deterministic shifts. We also analyze the critical behavior of random organization. Our results show that random organization and jamming are opposite limits of random sphere packings, and we expect that various equilibrium and nonequilibrium transitions can be formulated as related intermediate packing problems.

Background And Aims: Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH), a severe form of Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD), is characterized by inflammation and fibrosis in the liver, often progressing to cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. Despite its rising prevalence and significant disease burden, effective pharmacological treatments have been limited to lifestyle modifications and surgical interventions. Recently, resmetirom, a thyroid hormone receptor-β agonist, received FDA approval for treating NASH, offering new hope to patients.

Various repurposing drugs have been tested for their efficacy on coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), including antimalarial drugs. During the pandemic, Chloroquine (CQ) and Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) demonstrated good potential against COVID-19, but further studies showed both drugs had side effects that were more dangerous than the efficacy. This made World Health Organization (WHO) ban the usage for COVID-19 patients.

Objective: Phyllodes tumor (PT) is a variant of fibroepithelial proliferations of the breast, histologically demonstrating a leaf-like pattern. The WHO has categorized PTs as benign, borderline, or malignant based on their histological characteristics. The objective of this paper is to assess the clinicopathological factors with malignancy in PT of the breast.

Background Previous studies have suggested that providing dietary guidance along with denture treatment may improve dietary diversity in edentulous patients; however, none have examined the effects on nutritional blood biomarkers. This study investigated the effects of individualized dietary guidance combined with complete denture treatment on nutritional blood biomarker levels, dietary intake, and masticatory function. Materials and methods This was a prospective, randomized, open-label, controlled trial.
