Men who have sex with men (MSM) and people with HIV are at increased risk of anal HPV infection and cancer. This study aimed to assess the prevalence of anal HPV among MSM with HIV (MWH) and without HIV (MWoH), as well as among MSM under and over 35 years. Factors associated with infection from high-risk (HR) HPV were investigated.

Human papillomaviruses (HPVs) are responsible for the majority of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), some of which are oncogenic and can cause oropharyngeal or genital cancers. The HPV prevalence at the genital level varies according to the population studied but is higher in the seminal fluid of men suffering from idiopathic infertility than in the general population. The involvement of HPV in male infertility is supported by several studies suggesting that this virus can affect sperm quality by altering sperm DNA integrity, motility, number, viability, and morphology, and by inducing the production of anti-sperm antibodies (ASAs).

Over the past two decades, the global incidence of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, and syphilis have increased significantly, particularly among cisgender men who have sex with men (MSM) and transgender women (TGW). This rise in STIs has spurred interest in new preventive measures, including doxycycline post-exposure prophylaxis (DoxyPEP). Clinical trials in the United States and France have demonstrated the effectiveness of DoxyPEP in reducing both chlamydia and syphilis incidence among MSM and TGW; although, its efficacy against gonorrhea remains limited, and it was further found to be ineffective among cisgender women in Kenya.

Purpose Of Review: Development of vaccines that protect against sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including for chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis, has progressed greatly over the past decade. However, little research has been conducted to examine STI vaccine acceptance and hesitancy and how these factors may impact future uptake. This review examines literature that could provide additional insights into factors that would impact STI vaccine acceptance and hesitancy.

Human papillomavirus (HPV) is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections and poses a significant public health concern due to its link with various cancers. Despite widespread awareness of HPV, actual knowledge about the virus remains limited, which limits the effectiveness of preventive measures such as vaccination. This article reviews the literature to evaluate how HPV knowledge influences attitudes toward vaccination.
