Hepatitis E virus (HEV) can cause chronic infections in immunocompromised hosts. Viral kinetics in plasma and stools are poorly understood, particularly during antiviral treatment. Prolonged faecal shedding may be a concern for transmission. We describe HEV kinetics in an immunocompromised patient with prolonged faecal shedding despite undetectable viraemia on ribavirin treatment.

is an understudied, gram-negative, aerobic bacterium that is widespread in the environment and increasingly a cause of opportunistic infections. Treating remains difficult, leading to an increase in disease severity and higher hospitalization rates in people with cystic fibrosis, cancer, and other immunocompromised health conditions. The lack of effective antibiotics has led to renewed interest in phage therapy; however, there remains a great need for well-characterized phages, especially against .

Background: Sepsis is commonly associated with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Although the exaggerated inflammation may damage intact lung tissues, a percentage of patients with ARDS are reportedly immunocompromised, with worse outcomes. Herein, using a murine sepsis model, time-course immune reprogramming after sepsis was evaluated to explore whether the host is immunocompromised.

Unlabelled: Recombinant chimeric horsepox virus (TNX-801) is a preclinical vaccine in development against mpox and smallpox. In this report, we investigated the potential phenotypic differences in and models between TNX-801 and older vaccinia virus (VACV)-based vaccine strains (VACV-Lis and VACV-NYCBH) used in the eradication of smallpox as well as VACV-WR, VACV-IHD, and MVA. TNX-801 displayed a small plaque phenotype (~1-2 mm) in BSC-40 and Vero-E6 cells.

Nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) infections are extremely difficult to treat due to a natural resistance to many antimicrobials. TBAJ-587 is a novel diarylquinoline, which shows higher anti-tuberculosis activity, lower lipophilicity, and weaker inhibition of hERG channels than bedaquiline (BDQ). The susceptibilities of 11 NTM reference strains and 194 clinical isolates to TBAJ-587 were determined by the broth microdilution assay.

Candidiasis, a condition spurred by the unchecked proliferation of species, poses a formidable global health threat, particularly in immunocompromised individuals. The emergence of drug-resistant strains complicates management strategies, necessitating novel therapeutic avenues. Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) have garnered attention for their potent antifungal properties and broad-spectrum activity against species.
