Shuanghuanglian (SHL) and its primary constituents have demonstrated protective effects against allergenic diseases. This review examines the anaphylactic and anti-allergenic activities of SHL and its constituents. We also discuss potential avenues for future research, particularly regarding the expansion of the clinical applications of SHL formulations (oral or nebulized) for the treatment of allergenic disorders.

Shenlian (SL) decoction, a renowned traditional Chinese formula for diabetes mellitus, has also been employed to treat intestinal disorders. Previous studies have demonstrated the efficacy of SL decoction in regulating blood glucose and intestinal bacteria. Nevertheless, further analysis is required to elucidate the mechanistic link between SL decoction-mediated improvement of intestinal function and treatment of Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).

Background: Data from observational and clinical studies indicate an association between skin microbiota and hidradenitis suppurativa (HS). However, the causal relationship between skin microbiota and HS remains to be elucidated.
Methods: We obtained data on skin microbiota and HS from summary statistics of genome-wide association studies and applied Mendelian randomization (MR) statistical methods to assess causality.

Advances in molecular genetics during the past decades led to seminal discoveries in the genetic basis of cardiovascular diseases, resulting in a new understanding of their pathogenesis, determinants of natural history and more recently paved the way for innovative therapies. A significant gap, however, exists between the rapidly increasing knowledge, especially of cardiovascular Mendelian disorders, and the medical applications in daily practice. This paper will focus on the practical issues the cardiologist may be faced with when suspecting a Mendelian disorder.

Prime editing (PE) is a CRISPR-based tool for genome engineering that can be applied to generate human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC)-based disease models. PE technology safely introduces point mutations, small insertions, and deletions (indels) into the genome. It uses a Cas9-nickase (nCas9) fused to a reverse transcriptase (RT) as an editor and a PE guide RNA (pegRNA), which introduces the desired edit with great precision without creating double-strand breaks (DSBs).
