Lipomyelomeningocele, a closed neural tube defect, usually occurs in lumbosacral area as a single lesion but can be associated with other spinal dysraphism. We report an infant with a very rare presentation of tandem lumbosacral lipomyelomeningoceles, thick filum terminale and split cord malformation.

Antibody glycosylation patterns can affect antibody functionality and thereby contribute to protection against invading pathogens. During pregnancy, maternal antibodies can be transferred through the placenta and contribute to modulating both the mother's and her child's immune responses. Although several studies of IgG glycosylation during pregnancy have been carried out, very few cohorts studied were from sub-Saharan Africa, where exposure to microorganisms and parasites is high.

Studies investigating the nervous system development in model animals have focused only on a few regions of the Central Nervous System due to the limited availability of genetic drivers to target these regions throughout development and adult life. This hindered our understanding of how distinct neuronal lineages come together to form neuronal circuits during development.

Split notochord syndrome (SNS) is a rare congenital anomaly characterized by incomplete midline notochordal integration during gastrulation, leading to segmental clefts of the spine. This case report describes a female patient with symptomatic cervico-dorsal SNS associated with a neurenteric cyst (NEC), intrathoracic gut duplication, and secondary hydrocephalus. Multistep surgical interventions were performed, including hydrocephalus management, excision of the cyst and gut duplication, and detethering with sectioning of the filum.

Objective: To explore the relevant variables that contribute to deep vein thrombosis (DVT) among spinal cord injury (SCI) patients undergoing inpatient rehabilitation and to build and validate a nomogram model that predicts DVT risk.
Methods: By convenience sampling, 558 SCI patients who were hospitalized at a tertiary-level Grade A general hospital in Anhui Province, China between January 2017 and March 2022 were chosen as the study subjects. They were split into 2 groups at random, one for training (n = 446) and the other for validation (n = 112).
