Recent decades have seen the development of accelerator neutron sources suitable for installation in a hospital setting. Numerous challenges have been faced and solved to deliver technology which continues to transform the field of BNCT. This paper begins by briefly reviewing the technologies which are currently, or soon will be, in clinical use.

Purpose: Randomized trials have demonstrated similar local tumor control in patients treated with accelerated partial-breast irradiation (APBI) compared with whole-breast irradiation. However, the optimal APBI dose for maximizing tumor control and minimizing toxicity is uncertain.
Methods And Materials: We enrolled patients ≥18 years of age with grade 1 or 2 ductal carcinoma in situ or stage I invasive breast cancer and resection margins ≥2 mm between 2003 and 2011 to a sequential dose-escalation trial using 3-dimensional conformal external beam APBI giving twice daily 4 Gy fractions with total doses of 32 Gy, 36 Gy, and 40 Gy.

The growing importance of state assessments in civil engineering has led to intensive research into the development of damage identification methods based on vibrations. Natural frequencies and modal shapes have garnered great interest because modal parameters are invariant of structure. Moreover, thanks to the global nature of modal parameters, their variations are not limited to the location of the damage.

We aimed to explore the possibility of realizing a beam shaping assembly (BSA) driven by a 15-kW beam of 33-MeV electrons of an electron linear accelerator (LINAC) when a boronophenylalanine is adopted as a boron carrier. Simulation calculations were performed to design two types of BSAs driven by the small LINAC. The one was an experimental BSA, and the other was a high-performance BSA.

Purpose Low-dose total skin electron beam therapy (LD-TSEBT) has recently gained popularity in treating mycosis fungoides (MF) due to its reduced toxicity and favorable response rates. Combining accelerated LD-TSEBT with the modified Stanford technique (mST), a condensed cycling approach, offers a promising and convenient option. However, in vivo dosimetry data confirming the effectiveness of this approach is limited.
