It has been reported that sandblasting titanium with alumina (Al2O3) powder could generate a negative electric charge on titanium surface. This has been proven to promote osteoblast activities and possibly osseointegration. The purpose of this pilot study was to investigate the effects of different blasting materials, in terms of the grit sizes and electro-negativity, on the generation of a negative charge on the titanium surface. The aim was also to make use of these results to deduct the underlying mechanism of charge generation by sandblasting. Together 60 c.p. 2 titanium plates were machine-cut and polished for sandblasting, and divided into 6 groups with 10 plates in each. Every plate in the study groups was sandblasted with one of the following 6 powder materials: 110µm Al2O3 grits, 50µm Al2O3 grits, 150-300µm glass beads, 45-75µm glass beads, 250µm Al powder and 44µm Al powder. The static voltage on the surface of every titanium plate was measured immediately after sandblasting. The static voltages of the titanium plates were recorded and processed using statistical analysis. The results suggested that only sandblasting with 45-75µm glass beads generated a positive charge on titanium, while using all other blasting materials lead to a negative charge. Furthermore, blasting grits of the same powder material but of different sizes might lead to different amount and polarity of the charges. This triboelectric effect is likely to be the main mechanism for charge generation through sandblasting.

Objective: Aim: To improve the effectiveness of surgical treatment for patients with post-traumatic tympanic membrane perforations and concurrent Eustachian tube dysfunction through simultaneous combined surgical methods.
Patients And Methods: Materials and Methods: We analyzed clinical and functional outcomes of 35 patients (mean age: 34 ± 10,5 years) with tympanic membrane perforations caused by acoustic and blast injuries. The patients were divided into two groups: the first group (n=17) underwent only tympanoplasty type 1, while the second group (n=18) underwent simultaneous septoplasty, inferior turbinectomy, and tympanoplasty with prolonged middle ear ventilation using a subanular Silverstein tube.

In single-atomic photocatalyst systems, the spatial distribution of single atoms on heterojunctions and its impact on photocatalytic processes, particularly on carrier dynamics and the CO reduction process involving multielectron reactions, remains underexplored. To address this gap, a WO/TiO nanotube heterojunction with a spatially selective distribution of Au single atoms was developed using an oxygen vacancy anchoring strategy for CO photoreduction. By anchoring Au atoms onto the WO or TiO components, a substantial number of active sites are generated and the electron transfer pathways from the heterojunction toward Au sites are formed, thereby enhancing carrier separation and concentration.

Blast disease caused by is a devastating disease that limits rice grain production. Here, we synthesized rhamnolipid (RL) modified silica nanoparticles (SiONPs) based on the excellent antimicrobial activity of RL against various phytopathogens and the role of SiONPs in alleviating plant diseases and investigated the roles and mechanisms of RL@SiONPs application in controlling rice blast disease. Two-week-old rice seedlings were sprayed with 100 mL/L of different materials before pathogen inoculation, and blast incidence was investigated 5 days after inoculation.

Introduction: Despite remarkable progress in Pediatric Acute Myeloid Leukemia (pAML) treatments, the relapsed disease remains difficult to treat, making it pertinent to identify novel biomarkers of prognostic/therapeutic significance.
Material And Methods: Bone marrow samples from 21 pAML patients were analyzed using single cell RNA sequencing, functional assays with knockdown and overexpression were performed in leukemia cell lines to evaluate impact on proliferation and migration, and chemotherapy sensitivity. Mitochondrial function was assessed via Seahorse assay, interacting proteins were studied using co-immunoprecipitation.
