Introduction: Cardiac tamponade is a life-threatening condition resulting from fluid accumulation in the pericardial sac, leading to decreased cardiac output and shock. Article Synopsis
  • The study evaluates the safety and effectiveness of the Zenith Dissection Endovascular System (ZDES) against traditional stent grafts for repairing acute complicated Type B Aortic Dissection (AcTBAD).
  • A retrospective analysis of 32 patients revealed that the ZDES group experienced fewer postoperative adverse events (12 vs. 37), demonstrating better outcomes in false lumen thrombosis at 6 months and lower 3-year mortality rates.
  • Despite some patients needing secondary interventions in the ZDES cohort due to aortic growth, overall results suggest the ZDES may offer improved safety and efficacy compared to traditional methods.

Purpose: Takayasu arteritis (TAK) is a rare form of chronic vasculitis that is common in Asian female. As TAK predominantly affects young female with a longer life expectancy than those with atherosclerotic diseases, assessing the specific long-term outcomes of TAK treatment is important. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the long-term outcomes and post-procedural complications of surgical and endovascular treatment for TAK.

Purpose: To compare stone clearance and complications between a 'wide' (9 × 50 mm) and 'narrow' shockwave focus (6 × 28 mm) when undertaking shockwave lithotripsy (SWL) in patients with renal or ureteric stones.

Methods: Data from patients undergoing SWL using the dual focus Storz Modulith SLX-F2 lithotripter at a single centre were prospectively collected between February 2018 and September 2020. Patients were matched by stone size, location, and number of treatments.
