This report examines the characteristics of dental school applicants and enrollees using data from the 2010-11 and 2011-12 application cycles of the American Dental Education Association's Associated American Dental Schools Application Service (ADEA AADSAS). The report presents data on the demographic composition and academic preparation of applicants, first-time enrollees, and total first-year enrollees during these two application cycles. The data indicate that the number of applicants has decreased modestly during this time, yet the number of first-time, first-year enrollees continues to rise mainly reflecting the opening of new dental schools and expansion of existing class sizes at some schools. Findings also indicate reduced gaps by gender in dental school applicants and enrollees. By contrast, the percentage of underrepresented minority applicants and enrollees increased only slightly. The results highlighted in this study have important implications for health professions education advisors, dental educators, and members of the broader dental education community.

Purpose/objectives: This article aims to provide an overview of the characteristics of applicants and first-time, first-year enrolled predoctoral oral health students in the 2023 Entering Class, while highlighting trends over the past decade.
Methods: The study employs a descriptive analysis of predoctoral US dental school application data sourced from the ADEA Associated American Dental Schools Application Service (ADEA AADSAS) and Texas Medical and Dental Schools Application Services (TMDSAS) portals.
Results: Between 2013 and 2023, the number of first-time, first-year enrollees increased by 14%.

Genetic counseling graduate programs largely recommend that prospective applicants shadow or gain exposure to genetic counselors (GC) as a means of developing insight into the profession. However, prospective students have cited this need to shadow genetic counselors as harder to access in comparison to other prerequisites. The GC Immersive (GCI) at Color was created as a no-cost, remote, self-paced professional exploration program designed to provide resources and live interaction with a team of genetic counselors to increase accessibility to GC exposure and enhance the competitiveness of underrepresented GC candidates.

The goal of this study was to investigate the of fear of starting university training, determine its general characteristics, and test how providing psychological and motivational support for university enrollees may influence the elimination of this type of fear. The study used a random sample of 536 individuals, 268 participants each from one university in the Russian Federation and one from China, who were also randomly selected. Approximately equivalent experimental and control groups (134 people) were formed.
