Ratiometric MRI sensors consist of paramagnetic cores and pH-sensitive polymer shells. The core-shell nanostructure enables the coexistence of two incompatible NMR relaxation properties in one particle. The sensors show pH sensitivity in transverse relaxivity (r2 ), but not in longitudinal relaxivity (r1 ). Quantitative pH imaging is achieved by measuring the r2 /r1 value with a clinical 3 T MRI scanner.

Magnetic-susceptibility-dependent ratiometric probes for enhancing quantitative MRI.

In magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), quantitative measurements of analytes are hindered by difficulties in distinguishing the MRI signals of activation of the probe by the analyte from those of the accumulation of the intact probe. Here we show that imaging sensitivity and quantitation can be enhanced by ratiometric MRI probes with a high relaxivity-ratio change (more than 2.5-fold at 7 T) via magnetic-susceptibility-dependent magnetic resonance tuning.

Visualization of drug release is crucial for improving therapeutic efficacy and preventing inappropriate medication dosing, yet, challenging. Herein, we report a pH-activated chemo-immunotherapy nanoplatform with visualization of drug release by ratiometric F magnetic resonance imaging (F MRI). This nanoplatform consists of ultra-small histamine-modified perfluoro-15-crown-5-ether (PFCE) nanodroplets loaded with doxorubicin (Dox), which are packaged in trifluoromethyl-containing metal-organic assemblies coordination-driven self-assembly.

CEST-MRI is an emerging imaging technique suitable for various in vivo applications, including the quantification of tumor acidosis. Traditionally, CEST contrast is calculated by asymmetry analysis, but the presence of fat signals leads to wrong contrast quantification and hence to inaccurate pH measurements. In this study, we investigated four post-processing approaches to overcome fat signal influences and enable correct CEST contrast calculations and tumor pH measurements using iopamidol.

A fluorescent probe for specific dual recognition of Ni and pH.

School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Liaoning Normal University, Dalian, Liaoning 116029, China. Electronic address:

Nickel ion (Ni) and pH play an important role in environment and living organisms. A fluorescent probe "naphthalimide- s-triazine" (NCNS) for targeted dual detection of Ni and pH was synthesized. As a result, NCNS exhibits excellent optical properties: a much larger Stokes shift (140 nm), eminent changes of fluorescence intensity and significant red-shift both for Ni and pH.

F parashift probes with paramagnetically shifted reporter nuclei provide attractive platforms to develop molecular imaging probes. These probes enable ratiometric detection of molecular disease markers using a direct detection technique. Here, we describe a series of trivalent lanthanide (Ln(III)) complexes that are structural analogues of the clinically approved MR contrast agent (CA) ProHance to obtain F parashift probes.
